Hey guys I was wondering what should I go with when I do my lt1 swap. A stand alone harness or get some one to rework my existing one? I'm pretty lost on this. What exactly is a stand alone harness? Will everything function as it should? Sorry in advance if there's a thread on this already.

Thanks for responding. I know ill mess the harness up if I tried it myself. I have NO idea what 99% if the wires are. Let's just say wiring isn't my best subject. Can someone please tell me where can I get mine redone for a decent price?Originally Posted by chevyowner02

Can someone please give me a better undertanding of a stand alone harness? I've been doing my research but all of these threads are over my head. I was looking at a plug and play harness on tpis.com it's a bit pricey at $775.

I'm looking to go with a MSD Atomic EFI LS Master Kit http://www.atomicefi.com/Atomic_LS_Kits_and_Parts.aspx
The only issue right now is that they're pricy ($2500) and that I don't have an engine yet. Over all though it looks like a good deal when you factor in that it is plug-n-play and has a self learning computer.

It also comes with a fuel system with the kit I looked at
Not as overpriced as I hear frequently

I just figured that by the time I find all the parts, get a harness made, computer flashed, and tune it I would be at $2k anyway.Originally Posted by Pocket

Thanks for trying to help guys. But Im still wondering what should I go with a standalone harness or get someone to redo my existing harnesses to make them "plug and play". I have no knowledge exactly what is a standalone is it or drag cars? I know alot of wires are taken out for standalone.

call pcm of nc about a plug and play harness. phone calls are free
Not sure what everyone means by stand alone? The ignition/starter stuff comes out of the c100 connector and has to run to the engine harness for injectors and ignition. So you have to rework the harness. Basically integrate the swap motors harness with the factory thirdgen stuff. If using stock gauges the signal wires also go thru c100 for most part.
Its not difficult as long as you have good diagrams to know what wires are what.

Stand alone means the harness has everything it needs to run the engine and nothing else. Engine swap or engine stand, it will fire the motor. When installing a stane along harness, several wires need to be connected such as 12v, fuel, gauges etc
Plug and play means you take it out of the box, plug it in and hit the key. Connect nothing

What most of you guys go with with these swaps? I'm trying to find a cheap way to do this without redoing the harness myself (I know I will mess it up I have no experience with solder guns, and I have no idea on what wires are what). I could run some wires myself I just don't feel confirtible splicing into my harness.
