may be a silly question but havent found a clear answer. im eventually gonna do a ls swap and curious if it makes a difference...if i get an engine and harness from a firebird can i use camaro cluster?? i would think they are the same

 

Yes.

But, if I recall correctly, '88 Camaro is mechanical speedometer, so you're going to have to address that somehow. The Dakota Digital VHX Camaro cluster would take care of that for about $800. Using it in my '82 Berlinetta LS1 swap.

If '88 Camaro is electronic speedometer, never mind...

Or, are you talking about a 4th gen Camaro cluster?

 

I went from mechanical speedo to electronic. Used Autometer Speedo and Tach. Other gauges are original. So that is another way you can also think about. Tranny also changed, so the VSS required I change.
Pocket wired up my dash to 4th Gen harness for me- this was a few years ago, when he still had the time.

 

im sorry, i should have been more specific. i want to swap everything i can from a 4th gen into my gutted vert... engine trans wiring(if possible) ect.
or look at it this way, if i have say a 2000 gen camaro could i swap in a 2000 firebird cluster?
i guess im asking if the pin connectors are the same to hook in from camaro to firebird. i would widen my search for a donor 4th gen
