I have a 6.0 engine I drilled and tapped hole for alt bracket in left corner of block. Now since the iron block cant be drilled for the hole under the idler pulley you end up using just 3 bolts 2 in front 1 on side the attaches bracket to back corner of alt, to side of block. My problem is the idler pulley that mounts to alt bracket is leaning out towards radiator about an 1/8" and making the belt walk off. These are all 02 fbody accessory brackets. Has anyone had the problem like this?

Are you running PS? Is your idler smooth or ribbed? It shouldn't be angled (obviously) so what is causing it to sit crooked?
Yes I have the power steering also, idler is smooth. I can't figure out why its setting about an 1/8" past the harmonic balancer. I bought the camaro oem style balancer, I may have to make a bracket to pull the front of alt. bracket closer to engine. Just wondered if anyone had to mod something.

When I did mine on my 5.3 I did t have to mod anything. Maybe your bracket is messed up? I have a smooth idler (when I put P'S on) and a ribbed on it right now. Where did you get the pulley? I ordered it from gm. Has a metal piece on both sides.
Yea the 5.3 has provisions for all the bolts. The 6.0 don't, I had to drill one in top corner, but even if its off a little the bracket should still mount flush.
After looking at my brackets a lot closer I think that maybe its my power steering pump thats not straight since the belt feeds off it to idler pulley. Does that sound correct, that the feed would determine the direction of belt more so than the alternator pulling it?

can you post any pics?
Thanks for trying to help camaroracer, I found the problem. The power steering pulley was not pressed flush with the end, lol. It was hidden by my intake pipe when I removed all the pipeing to start to pull the accessories I found it. Damn I been fighting a 5 minute job for weeks.
