Ok, so my ls swap 4.8/4l60e uses setback plates and originally 350 motor mounts that places the engine/transmission in the factory location to where I am using the factory drive shaft & torque arm mount location. Is there a good chance that this crossmember will fit?
Unfortunately not. The engine/transmission mating plane is moved forward slightly in the Hooker Blackheart system to provide the best overall component fitment in the car. Because your engine is mounted with the engine/transmission in the stock position, the transmission will be located further rearward than what the Hooker Blackheart crossmember is designed to accommodate in a bolt-in manner.

Just gotta say it's awesome that you still monitor this board toddoky. Your willingness to explain things be a technical resource for this system is one of the big reasons I went all in and bought it, planning to replace my "classic" LS swap components. Just wanted to say thanks.

Are you able say how much further forward it is?

I’m glad to hear you find value in my efforts. I’m spread a bit thin these days, but I do my best to support all the swap systems I’ve developed.

5/8”-3/4”, which is the same distance GM moved the mating plane forward in 4th-Gen F-bodies when they started installing the LS1 in them.

I've got the Hooker 71222005HKR crossmember for my Gen 1 SBC, 4L60 combination. While not a direct fit due to the oddball transmission I ended up with (a 4L60 but with a Caprice extension housing which places the rear transmission mount on the extension rather than the trans case) it looks close enough in dimension to the TH400 (IIRC) and should work with either one of Hooker's adaptors or something of my own design. Yet to be determined. But IMO, it's far better than something I might build entirely from scratch.

What is does offer though is excellent clearance for the exhaust. And that's what I'm after. Possibly incorporating the full BlackHeart duals. Again, there'll be some modification needed as I'm outside the design envelope. But I estimate it'll be really close.
