Drove my car around over the weekend for a few miles to let it get up to temp and didn't have an overheating problem! Everything went smoothly.
Felt nice to have a functioning car again.
The sound of the open headers never gets old either
Now to finish the interior up!

Thought I would ask here as well...
I pulled my tach/speedo out to do the fix that is stickied on the electronics forum. Soldered in the new resistors, put the cluster back in, turn the key, and nothing. No click, no headlights, no priming of the fuel pump. Zilch.
I didn't touch any of the wiring, outside of unplugging the necessary connections to remove the cluster. I checked the grounds, they were still all in good order. Battery had power.
Anything I am missing?

I'd start by unplugging all the stuff and plugging it back in. It will do the same if the C100 has a loose connection, I assume a lot of those wires run through the dash as well. Might want to make sure your C100 is in there good as well.

Grounds are all good. Fuses are all good. C100 is good.
Battery is showing just under 12 volts.
No clue. About done with it to be honest.

I did unplug the negative cable before pulling the gauge cluster. Interestingly enough though, the battery was shot (it's about 4 years old). Talk about coincidence....
When I went to plug the new one in, I've got a wire shorting out somewhere because it was sparking like crazy and melting the contacts on the negative terminal. So now I get to chase down that gremlin.
I've already checked all the battery cables to make sure nothing was touching since I had been messing with those a lot, and yes, the positive is on the positive and vice versa
My thoughts are the wiring behind the passenger header might have melted. I don't think anything in the cluster would make it ground out that bad, but we shall see.

Well, got it narrowed down to the alternator. Somehow it is grounding out at that post.....sometimes. I first hooked it up and had it without grounding, and started the car. I got back under to tie up loose cables and clean it up and it started grounding out again.
I have the racetronix hot wire kit, so I need to see if something on that is causing the short. I know the bolt that the hot wire kit provided seems somewhat loose in the alternator. Maybe that's my problem? Still digging.

Turns out there was a short on the inside of the alternator somehow. So that is being replaced. Should be back on the road in no time!
