Re: E-rod installed
I've seen the erod LS3/4l65e connect and cruise kits go for around $10k-$11k. It's expensive but its a nice kit and don't have to do any outside tuning.

Looks like a very nice install, great job
Did you take any pics of the underside... it would be interesting to see how the cats that they supply mounted up

Cats come as an assembly, not individual units, LH-92225676, RH-92225677.The manifolds are from a 98 f-body.

Really clean build. I'd love to do something like this someday. Emissions legal is not something you see often on this site sadly.
Do you have a list of all of the parts you used on the build by chance?

Re: E-rod installed
CARB has established that iron or aluminum doesn't matter for engine blocks, that different displacements within an engine family doesn't matter, and light truck sourced parts functionally identical to passenger car versions using the same engine family doesn't matter. Thank the old SBC V8 for those last 2.
The caveat is the tuning. So for LSx retrofit swaps, the 5.3L Monte has a useful tune, likewise the LS2 for LQ4s. But the 4.8 never came in any car, which is why mine is now in my S-10.
The ERod swap is worthless until it passes, and even then it's overpriced by around nine grand.

Yep, it passed everything, except the visual.Due to the exhaust manifolds.Got an engineer at the Bar trying to get CARB to allow the OE manifold swap.Since its already in the GM manual. No guarantees though.
I'm also tryin to get the supplied manifolds to fit.Which means more modifying on the x-member.In the meantime, ive put 1600 plus trouble free miles on it.

just out of curiosity since i am not in CA (but thinking about doing one of these for a normal plate with no restrictions in PA), then to get your cert did you have to swap in the supplied manifolds which it sounds like you are working on before you can technically drive it on the street?

This wouldn't be an issue anywhere else though, but ghod damm Ca.

Thanks guys.
Yes, I was already going, but now even more so.
For any smog test. They will check the ECU for I/M readiness & other issues. So any mod to the ECU calibration is considered "tampered".

Wow, really? So it's got a global computer like the new camaros that save the last X amount of calibrations? What about changing for tire sizes. Will that hurt you as well?

Re: E-rod installed & Passed
I believe so, ECU/eng are based off a 2011 Camaro, just simpler.Theres no egr/air inj & evap are not supported.
The TCU lets you program tire size &/or final drive, if you change either of those or both. This way the ECU can compensate the changes.

Re: E-rod installed & Passed
If you get the chance I would be interested in seeing how much power reaches the tires. GM underrates most of the LS motors and they wake up with a tune. I would be interested in seeing how underrated that LS3 is in EROD tune.

Its the same spec eng as in the 2011 Camaro, same HP even.Ive wondered how much too, but I suppose its underrated the same as GM did so in the Camaro.

I didn't say anything about trans specs & the 4l65 will hold up better than the 4l60 does, even behind a ls1.

9bolt should hold up fine on street tires. The manual cars are harder on rearends than the automatic cars are.
