Re: Ls2 / ls3 harness question

Yes, you can but you need to make changes to the engine so the LS1 PCM can work with it.

* Change engine from 58x to 24x reluctor wheels for the crank and cam speed sensors
* Drill and tap knock sensor holes for LS1 style
* Extend the harness for knock sensors, MAP sensor, cam speed sensor, and change the injector connectors to LS3 style
* Change wiring for the LS1 cam speed sensors.

Okay. So this is the only thing i need for the engine to work with a ls1 harness then?what exactlly do you mean with, change the wiriring for the ls1 cam speed sensor? I probably going with a ls1 engine harness anyway? Just so i dont miss anything

Re: Ls2 / ls3 harness question

The cam sensor has 3 wires. You might have to swap the outer 2 wires at the connector to get it to work with the LS1 harness.

do i need to take out the crankshaft to change the reluctor wheel? or can i do it from outside?

So what i need is:

ls1 knock sensor (do i need a ls1 knock sensor harness or just the sensors?)
and ls3 injector connectors

did you mean that i still can use the ls3 crank/camshaft positioner but i just need to get a 24x reluctor wheel?

did i get it right?

Re: Ls2 / ls3 harness question

i have done som more reserach, and this is what i came up with what i need so far:

timing gear: can i use that one for 16 dollars? it´s reweied that it would work with a 3 bolt cam. just wanna make sure. do a also need a ls2 chain damper like this: http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...8670/overview/

timing gear

map sensor adapter cabel: would this work with a ls1 engine harness? or do i need a ls1 map sensor?

ls1 knock sensors:

24x refluctor wheel:

ls2 valley cover:

3 bolt cam

and a ls1 knock sensor harness:

Just wanna check, but is it necessary to change the cam or can i just change the big cam gear?

Re: Ls2 / ls3 harness question

i´ve got confirmed that the ls3 map sensor works with the ls1 pcm if i get a adapter cable. so now it´s only two more questions that remains.

1:

is it possbile to use a ls3 harness and ecm (ecu,/pcm or what it?s called) and get it to work? instead of using adapter cables etc

2:

change the refluctor wheel to 24x. i know which parts i have to use BUT, the only thing i don?t know if have have to change the cam to a 3 bolted. or can i use the stock ls3?

Re: Ls2 / ls3 harness question

People do LS3 swaps all the time into older cars, not a problem. But I doubt you're going to get anybody to answer questions about using an LS3 PCM with 4th gen dash because 4th gen owners will modify the engine, not tear up the wiring in the car. For example, 4th gen cars are cable throttle body but the LS3 engine is a 58x speed timing system and none of those PCM's can support cable throttle body. Just another reason why a 4th gen owner won't do what you are doing and therefore you're probably on your own to figure this out.

maybe a dumb question. but just hypotheticly, is it possible to use a ls3 pcm for dbw and still use a throttle cable?

Re: Ls2 / ls3 harness question

I've emailed with cp wiring. And it doesn't work with the ls3 harness. So that idea is just to drop. But is it necessery to change the cam if i do a refluctor wheel change to 24x? I rather do it the right way. But othervis is the conversion box option the best option to go with

Re: Ls2 / ls3 harness question

I think you will have better luck asking questions and finding information at LS1tech.com because that site is more focused on the engine.

Lingenfelter can answer all your questions. One of their people is on LS1tech.com and you can find them in this thread. http://ls1tech.com/forums/pcm-diagno...questions.html

Also, I have a friend on that site that goes by the name of "Burgers" who will know exactly what you need and can also sell you the parts. Honestly, I would change the cam anyway because LS3 really responds to a cam swap with lots more power and better sound.
