There's a whole forum on this site about that.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-lsx/
The 5.3 is a LSx motor... the LS1, in Vettes in 97 and F-bodies in 98, was the first of that series, so that's what they are known as.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
I moved this thread to that forum, and updated the thread title to reflect what you're asking.
There is a sticky thread in the top section of this forum that gives the basics of an LS swap into a 3rd gen, with many links with more specific information. One of the links addresses starting with a truck engine - you'll want to make sure to read that.
How much work? Quite a bit. It's a lot more than just taking the engine out of the Tahoe and putting it in your Z.
Is it worth it? Well, many, many of us have done it - don't know anyone who isn't happy with the results.

Definitely read the sticky about it. Tons of info on it. There is a decent amount of work but nothing to terribly hard in my opinion. Most of the work is getting it setup to fit in your car. You will need to swap the oil pan, pickup tube, and windage tray. Swap front accessories ( I went with 4th gen fbody). Basically any questions you have you can ask and chances are someone has run into them.
