Re: Ls swap
Since this is your first post welcome to the world of spending way more time and money on an engine swap than you ever thought you would
If the 4L60E is the later style with the correct bell housing... you should be good.
The issue you may run into is how much power you plan on making
4L60E = 4 gears and rated for 600 pounds of torque Electronic shift
4L80E = 4 gears and rated for 800 pounds of torque Electronic shift
However the tunnel is limited space so... you can also get the trans built for higher ratings gearstar for example builds the 4l60 for 750 lbs of torque.
Per Scooter spend a few hours reading on here, the transmission is the easy part of the question Really the only issue is you need some place to mount the torque-arm so you either need an fbody transmission or a relocation mount for the torque-arm.
What computer/harness do you plan on running?
What engine mount solution are you looking at
Are you planning on running AC, if so be aware of the clearance issues with the kmember or look at the aftermarket brackets that put it up top.
If you are not running ac I suggest deleting or heavily modifying the air box to free up room.
Are you worried about emission testing where you live?
Are you running aftermarket front accessory drive, Fbody, truck, or corvette they all have different spacing.
Don't start the project until you have a firm answer on the above. My suggestion is find a company hooker, BMR, UMI, Hawks etc that you like their swap components and stick with one brand on the parts. The hooker blackheart has probably one of the cleanest factory looking set up maintaining the use of the factory Kmember but requires AC up top. UMI also AC up top, BMR the ac fits down low. Depending on this decision you can spend anywhere from $300 - $4000 just for the components to bolt it in.

Re: Ls swap
I actually just got mine running with a 6.0 and 4l60e. As Aviator said run through the list of questions and come up with a good plan before you start. Things will change as you go along but be sure to stick as close to your original plan as you can. Otherwise you'll end up with a car that's torn apart and not driveable for years while you figure things out or change your mind. Ask me how I know.
ICT Billet makes amazing parts for mounting the engine as well as front accessory adapters. As far as the trans crossmember you can modify the stock one to work with the 4l60e just do a search and you'll find some pictures. You'll need to fab it yourself or find a friend with a welder but it's not much work.
