LTX and LSXPutting LT1s, LS1s, and their variants into Third Gens is becoming more popular. This board is for those who are doing and have done the swaps so they can discuss all of their technical aspects including repairs, swap info, and performance upgrades.
This is great! But I have a question. Actually several. But I’ll start with one. Just for reference before, I have an 85 Camaro and I’m swapping in an LS with a Performabuilt 4L60E. Do I need a Park/Neutral switch? My harness from PSI has the main transmission connection but they said it does not come with a connection for the PN switch. They said that connection was usually on the body harness. I purchased a PN switch but if I don’t need it, I will return it. So, do I NEED it?
Re: LSx (Gen-III/ IV SBC) Swap Transmission (4L60E) Connector Info
Third Gen Camaros that were originally built with an Automatic Transmission...
will have the Neutral Safety Switch attached to the Gear-Selector under the Center-Console.
The Image below, shows a removed Gear-Selector with the Neutral Safety Switch (Wires are cut off):

It does not communicate with the Holley EFI Control Module.
The 10AWG Yellow and Purple Wires are part of the Neutral Safety Engine Start/ Crank Circuit, from the Ignition Switch.
The 18AWG Green and Blue Wires are part of the Reverse Lights (Back-Up Lights) Circuit from the Head Light Switch.
The 20AWG Orange with Black-Tracer and and Black with White-Tracer Wires originally operated as a PNP (Park Neutral Position) identifier Circuit with the Stock PCM.
There is no need to use them anymore, but they can be used by the Input/ Output Circuits of the Holley EFI PCM to your liking.
Re: LSx (Gen-III/ IV SBC) Swap Transmission (4L60E) Connector Info
Awesome! Thanks for the info. I appreciate the help. Now, next question. The 4L60E has two ports for transmission cooler lines. An upper and a lower. Which one is outgoing and which is return? Couldn’t find that info anywhere.

I apologize, i do not want to discuss Non-Electrical Connector base Information in My Thread.
Please create your own Thread.
I recommend that You locate a digital copy of the ATSG 4L60E Manual.
The answer to your question should be very easy to find.
This Post and your last Post will be deleted from this Thread in the next few days.
Well, since this is its own thread now, I’ll ask another transmission related question.
How do I attach these?
The bolts for the bracket line up perfectly with the two pan bolts. Isn’t there something that goes between the two ends to shift it? I thought I had something saved but can’t find it. And I disassembled it over 12 years ago so I honestly don’t even remember what I took off.
That Part will not fit the Type of Gear Selector Cable that you have...
I do not know of a Part Number that will fit your application/ Parts configuration.
But you will need a Lever/ Arm that has 2 holes:
-1 for the Threaded Shift-Shaft sticking out of the Transmission (to place a Nut on to).
-And 1 for the Threaded Fastener that is part of your Gear Selector Cable (to place a Nut on to).
Well, I found one that works. Got it off a 3rd Gen in a U-Pull yard.
Everything lined up perfectly. That slot at the bottom leaves room for slight adjustment. Now that this is all bolted up and functional, on to the next problem.
Does anyone know what size and thread the little bolt that goes in to the tail shaft on the 4L60E that holds the VSS in place is??? I can’t find it anywhere. I saw several for sale on eBay but it’s $7 for the one little bolt! I just need to know the size so I can go get one from a hardware store or something.
