00-02 manifolds with cats and 4L60E

LQ4/4L60E
Holley mount brackets and crossmember

My original plan was to run 00-02 manifolds and have a Y made with mini converters. I've seen a few pics here and there but nothing complete showing ground clearance.

Anybody running a set up like this? I really would prefer running cats but almost ready to scrap this idea and get Speed Engineering long tubes, make a nice Y and forget the converters.

It's definitely been done before; look up "emissions legal LS swap," and you should find a few threads.

Just ditching the cats and running headers will definitely be less headache, though.

In case you feel bad about removing the cats, just remember that China will be starting up FIFTY new coal-fired power plants in the near future, and the world community said that's okay, so your car's emissions don't mean Jack ****, and never have.

Reason for cats is to cut down exhaust fumes. I'm sensitive to them and get headaches fast. Doesn't help the T tops are always off and I sometimes get caught in ugly traffic. Can't forget drive thrus either lol!

it would just make my life so much easier and cheaper to get the Speed Engineering long tubes sighhh

I have speed engineering headers and magnaflow cats. they fit and work great....... *but* I am running a T56

Amazon Amazon

Look at the dimensions and compare them to stock cats

I also have an idea to use a single 3" cat on in the y-pipe on my other swapped car. I work in a hospital and showing up to work smelling like I spilled gas on me is an issue with patients.

This is the Y-pipe I used with the 2002 f-body manifolds. Clearance was very good. I used an off the shelf 3 inch over the axle to the muffler. The muffler was a 3 inch single in and 3 inch single out that exited under the bumper

No I used a 6L80. This would work for a 4l60 thou because it went under the front of the trans. I used an off the shelf 3 inch from there back with 3 inch in and out muffler with one exit under the drivers side bumper hidden from view.
