Ignition wiring question

Doing an Ls swap on 91 Camaro RS. When wiring the ignition from F4 on the C100 block the starter, using the diagram, the car starts when ignition switch is in run instead of full crank position. Not sure if I need to wire a NO/NC relay
I previously wired C100 Ls swap in an 86 Camaro same way no relay and the ignition works as expected.

Re: Ignition wiring question

How do you have your starter/ignition switch wired? The F4 should work to command the starter solenoid to begin the process.

Re: Ignition wiring question

Starter solenoid (starter control) is a large purple wire from C100 connector.

C100 F4 (pink) is constant switched power with key in RUN and CRANK position. You can't use it for starter control.

Re: Ignition wiring question

Quick is correct. I was confusing the F4 with B4. B4 of the C100 should be the main starter circuit from the bulkhead. F4 can be used to power other accessories associated with the swap.

do you know if the large purple is B4? The original harness is gone so I can’t trace. I’ll search from inside under the dash as well. Thx for tip!

Re: Ignition wiring question

Yes, starter solenoid control is C100 B4 (purple). It is a Metri-Pack 630 series unsealed terminal. Terminal part numbers are in post #12,

I can't remember if stock wire size is 10 or 12 AWG, but bigger is better in this case. Not all the part numbers listed are still in production so you might be constrained to use what is available.

Terminal sizes for all the C100 terminal positions is shown in Post #4,
