Changed Rims today...opinions

Changed my rims today...I got a good deal on these which may or may not be rare...anyway I like them...what do you think...also picking up a set of 92 Z28 rims polished with the gold accents (also very rare) as well on Saturday...these will probably become my fall and spring rims and the Z rims will be summer rims...I also have the same color Gold Bow Tie on my foglite grill and my Heritage Badge is black and gold...to kinda tie the rims into the car color concept...

not my favorite, but doesn't look too bad on the car b/c of all the accents... imo they would look better black

Re: Changed Rims today...opinions

My other Camaro is black and has black with the chrome lip so I was looking for something different than black. Thanks

i think it looks horrible to be honest, and the rear wheels look like they are in too far. what size tires do u have on there? use the 91-92 style Z28 wheels. and dont paint them gold

I don't understand why you think the rear wheels are too far in. Those are 245/50/16 which is quite wide. Look at the first two pictures and you can see how the tires extend past the ground effects.

As far as the Z28 rims that is what I had on the car. The all silver ones but to me they made the car boring. I will have on Saturday some chrome Heritage Gold ones from the Polo green and Gold 92 that are also polished. I didn't paint them Gold, they came that way from the factory-both sets, the IROC's and the Z28's.

I like the IROC's the more I look at them and on the street the car has gotten a lot of compliments the last few days. Before I put the IROC's on no one ever mentioned those silver Z28 rims and at car shows it seemed like the rims held the car back. Maybe it is something you have to see in person.

BADASS RIMS. I like the stock style rims...of course the single lined ones though...I have the dual lined IROC wheels...but anyway...they look slick as frick...The gold goes well with the black...but maybe a gloss gold or something?

Or how about polished centers and bars with the gold where its at in gloss?

Re: Changed Rims today...opinions

I think they look excellent. Mine has the same exact wheels on it from the factory, but can use a little touch up. I know what you mean by seeing it in person, since it goes real good with my black paint and gold iroc decals.

I am seriously thinking of (poishing the silver) doing this over the winter non driving season for next year. You see what I see too.

I think your car looks really good with the iroc rims on it. I don't know why the first couple of people hated on it, but i think it looks nice and clean. Forget what 85iroc said, if your car is an RS, keep it an RS, I'd go for some gold hockey stripes down the side with either RS in the slot or engine size. The gold compliments the black nicely, just remember not to go crazy with the accent colors or it will start to take away from it.

that looks to be the case. it is more than likely drums. if so just find some factory spacers and it will look alot better.

Thanks. I will never false badge my car. I am good with it being an RS. I won't be adding any other gold to the car other than gold RS rocker badges.

I do have drums in the rear. I plan on changing that in my next winter mod so no need for me to invest in spacers because the whole rear is coming out. I still don't see the "in" too far part and no one has ever said anything to me and this car is in lots of shows and cruises over the last couple of summers. Interesting...I don't want the tires out too far. I did that with my '86 and they kept getting cut up by the wheel well and the tires started looking like crap. So I am okay with where the wheels / tires are at this point.

I got no problem with your opinion rwdtech. I asked for them so I got to be willing to take the good with the bad. Wait until next week when I put the polished gold 92 Z28's on. I will be asking for more opinions.

Re: Changed Rims today...opinions

spacers are pretty cheap you can get them off of here normally around $20 shipped. they are really thin. I definitely like the Iroc's better than the z28 rims. are you just changing to another 10 bolt or a 9"? spacers or not your car looks good. props' for a nice clean camaro

I want to get a later model 9 bolt, preferably the one that came on the 91 or 92 Z's.

I will look into these spacers, especially since they are so cheap.

I am getting the Z28's so that I can change when my mood changes. Sort of like when I change shoes. I probably will use the IROC's most of the time and use the Z's for car shows, that way I don't have to worry about curb rash and stuff.

Thanks for the compliments...it is a lot of work to get and keep a clean Camaro.

Re: Changed Rims today...opinions

The rims look out of place. Sleek black car with gold and silver rims- there's not much to tie it all in besides the RS badges. Black and gold looks great if done right. Nice car, but personally I'd have gone with polished rims instead of gold accents.

Re: Changed Rims today...opinions

Well since this post started I have put on my polished rims and took off the IROCS. Here are a few pics of the z28's. I am now polishing the IROCS. I like both looks and will be switching from time to time as I get bored with the look of my car.

For those that me to add spacers there are spacers on the rear drums.

I had the car as a black and silver car but really didn't like it. Everyone with a black car had silver or chrome accents i.e. polished siver IROC's or Z's. I wanted to be different. And actually other gold accents include a gold and black 25th Anniversary badge on the rear deck and a gold bow tie in the front grill so it is not tied in to JUST the gold RS badges. I wanted some gold but not TOO much. Looks great in person I guess. Maybe the pics don't translate well.

Re: Changed Rims today...opinions

I will probably put the IROC's on my '86 which has no ground effects and is also black. It will give that car more of a muscle car effect but I do like the options for the '92 I have available to me. I get bored with looks so I am always changing gym shoes, rims, etc...lol

Re: Changed Rims today...opinions

If you have the factory spacers already, then you should have the aluminum drums. They are only 4mm thick anyways, so you wouldn't even notice, if they weren't on there.

I've never been of the gold Camaro wheels, yet I LOVE my gold GTA wheels. Maybe it is because of the white body? Versus red/blue/black, etc.?

If YOU like your car, THAT is what's important, right?

Definitely do the silver to gold RS emblem change, and I think it'll finish it off nice.

Those IROCs look absolutely terrible. I'll take them off your hands for you.

Just kidding man, they look FANTASTIC. They do look like they're in a little far though, your 91-92 wheels are fine though... ???

I love me some gold IROCs, but they only look good on certain color cars. Black is definitely one of them!
