Re: My Camaro project
you said the intake is custom - who made it, did you design it, and what is it made out of? definintly a masterpiece of ingenuity!

Re: My Camaro project
Thanks !
Yes, I designed and made it with the help of a friend who has CNC equipment. Basically, used a Holley Pro Dominator 2x4 intake base, plumbed for fuel injectors, and made the rails and box / lid as well. Much cheaper alternatives available now, Holley, Edelbrock new intake that just came out, etc.

Re: My Camaro project
now i have no idea and this is purely a idea but rather than trying to get air from above could u point the filter down (beneath the engine) to draw air from underneath the car? cold air sinks..... just have to worry bout sucking things up but im sure a box could b made or something.
Anyway just an idea let me know if you think it would work....

Re: My Camaro project
Thanks guys. Well unfortunately, a bunch of circumstances didn't allow me to actually get to drive it at all this year
But I plan to have the remaining items finished up over the winter and hit the street with it next spring.
To answer the question regarding the filter, not much room to locate the filter tube/filter anywhere up or down. Not much room in these 3rd gen engine compartments.

Re: My Camaro project
Hi Guys,
I've been on this site a long time, but thought I'd introduce my own project that I'm close to finishing.
Purchased this 1991 Camaro Z-28 way back in 1992 with only 20k, did a few mods at a time, and then went crazy ! I've been doing all the new mods over the last 8+ years and as you can see I'm almost nearing completion. Looking forward to finally driving it again after being off the road all those years !
Exterior Modifications:
Audi silver base with Ford GT Tungsten grey accent "SS" stripes, 20"x10",
19"x9.5" aftermarket Corvette Z06 wheels painted in grey accent color, BFG 285/30/20, 255/35/19 tires, Fiberglass 3.5" Cowl hood, shaved original emblems, shaved door handles with remote entry, third brake light LED mounted in rear spoiler, Billet fuel door, converted to Caprice composite headlights
Interior Modifications:
Recaro seats, rear seats and door panels covered in matching Recaro cloth, custom headliner with black ultra suede, 6-point roll cage, complete Autometer instrumentation with custom panel and gauge pods, 4th gen Camaro console, B&M Ripper shifter, Momo steering wheel, 4-point harnesses, 3rd gen Firebird radio pod, real carbon fiber accents throughout.
Performance:
385 Stroker shortblock, TFS aluminum heads, Procharger 15lb supercharger with 12 rib belt system with custom front mount 3-core intercooler, full Comp Cams roller valvetrain with custom cam, custom built fuel injection manifold, full length Hooker headers, custom 3" y-pipe to 4" single system with Flowmaster muffler, Accel DFI, Holley Pro ignition, MSD wires, March pulley system, aluminum radiator, Paxton billet fuel pump, real carbon fiber accents, plus way too many other mods to list !
Suspension/Chassis:
Custom tubular control and panhard bars, custom built tubular adjustable torque arm with integrated driveshaft loops, lowering springs and poly bushings all around, Koni Yellow struts and shocks, slight mini tub, custom built double subframe connectors, Baer Track series brakes all around
Drivetrain:
T-56 6-speed with McLeod clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, Tilton hydraulic clutch pedal setup, chrome moly driveshaft, Ford 9" rear with 3.55 posi, 31 spline Strange axles
Electronics:
Alpine head unit, Alpine amps, Alpine 6x9, Rockford Fosgate subs, and front speakers, custom built fiberglass sub enclosure.

Re: My Camaro project
Where is the oil line?? On the other side?? Also what's the sleeve and rod end under it for??
The oil feed line is located on the side of the unit, and the drain back exits the bottom and feeds into a fitting tapped into the front of the oil pan.
The bar you are referring to is a stainless adjustment bar that I had to fabricate to bring the pulleys back to alignment in order to eliminate the belts from jumping off ...with the 12-rib belt, the force would actually cause the blower mounting plate to flex ! ...the adjustment bar squares everything back up after I tighten the belt to proper tension.

Re: My Camaro project
Look at mine, the feed is on the other side from yours then. We have 5 P600Bs here and they're all like this
I figured the rod was to reduce bracket deflection. Since I did a custom install of an 88+ system on an 87 I sued 4 bolts to the head instead of 2 and 1 to the alt, I made a mounting plate for the 4th one and drilled a hole to use the 3rd head bolt hole. I may add a rod like that, now that I can still access the area quite easily. 1/2" rod ends should be fine for the job. Thanks for the idea

Re: My Camaro project
My feed is in the same location as yours, however, your unit looks to be clocked 180 degrees from mine and the discharge faces the engine as opposed to the fender on mine.

Re: My Camaro project
Steve, I feel your pain on the clearance issues in the engine compartment. Try running a set of long tubes in there with the old mechanical clutch system. However have you ever thought of switching to a tubular K member? They look like they free up a ton of room, then you could route your intake down low. But anyways beautiful Z brother absolutly stunning.
