New C5 Wheels
ok guys so yesterday my 18x9.5 Chrome C5 wheels came (bought them from another a member here) took some pics last night, hope fully we get a few more sunny says before i have to put here away for the winter anyhow here are the noght time shots, ohh yea the tires are 275/295 35 18

Re: New C5 Wheels
Those look real nice, fill the wheel gap nicely, still could use just a very slight drop I think. How do you like the ride of the tires? I would be scared to get anything that low profile, but that's just my preferance.

Re: New C5 Wheels
thanks guys, but theres no way im gonna lower this car another millimeter, as the car sits now its riding on sportline springs and with the combination of tire size i have im barley getting by before there will be some serious rubbing, as for the way the tires ride i must say its pretty damn good. i had 245 40 17s on there before and for some reason the ride seemem alot more ruffer..

Re: New C5 Wheels
I have a set on my 92 GTA. I wish I could find someone who would trade a set of two 17' rims for a set of my 18X9.5 rims on the front of the car. On a perfect road my car handles flawlessly. If I get into a piece of pavement that has grooves worn into it my car bounces around like crap. I run 245/40/18 Kuhmo Ecsta supra 712's on the front tires. Would a 17 inch tire upfront help or is it the tire itself that I have on there now???? And yes the front end is tight and alligned properly. If I drive my buddies 03 'vette over the same road his car is entirely different on the same piece of road than mine. His car barely wanders in the same spot that my car has 2 feet of lateral movement....

Re: New C5 Wheels
pearl_iroc those rims look horrible.. absolutly disgusting, so bad you should just give them to me, lol! No really, they look fantastic.
razor - I know exactly what you mean! I found different brands of tires increased or decreased the wandering. I also found adding more negative camber helped the problem somewhat.

Re: New C5 Wheels
Brisk u almost had me there for a minute lol thanks dude, i think they have really given the car a diiferent look and feel.
Razor maybe it is the tires as Brisk said or the camber i know berfore i bought theses wheels i had 245 40 on my 17 ROH on those same kumho tires and the ride was really rough, i ll be sure when its time to replace these tires not to go with kumhos, i dont think that there a bad tire but i think the side walls are to soft for the weight of are cars, my dad has 225 45 17 on his beamer and the thing rides smooth (i know its a beamer its supposed to be) but still i was surprised, maybe the fronts tires aren't balanced properly? also as for alignment on my car i had them set everything as close to stock as possible, but maybe u could try the camber idea? so far with these wheels the only thing ive noticed is u have to brake a little bit earlier and the steering wheel feels a bit more heavy cuz of the 275s

Where abouts do you live man? That pic with all the snow, theres a school in the background, which one is that? I live in the Scarborough area and it looks damn familiar.
Nice car btw. What are you going to be doing with the old rims?

Looks nice! Did you have to pound on the inside of the quarters at all to get the 295's to fit?

Yo Pearl. What headlight system do you have?
They look real nice.
Mainly, what wattage bulbs do you have if you do have H4's
I bought 100/90 watt cosmic white Nokya bulbs and I have read of some people with 100/90 watta bulbs (NOT NOKYA) even with the APC H4 harness having their harness burn up and melt. I dont want this to happen, let me know.

i had lumincs 110 watt 6k H4 bulbs before and on the stock wiring system, when i turned on my high beams the lights would flicker cuz they werent gettin enough power
now i have actual 6k HIDS on the lows and 10k on the high beams(just for looks) and no power problems (HIDs draw less current) only proble is the highs and lows dont come on at the same time right now

Re: New C5 Wheels
Thanks, as I might have to look into HIDs now...also I found a website that sells high heat resistant H4 connectors with 10g wiring and 2 30A relays....so I could upgrade my wiring as these connectors support up to 200watt bulbs...
Ill let you know how it goes when I get my smoked lenses in and...installed and turned on, thanks for the help.

hey demon, i was gonna paint it from the inside but decided it was safer to paint it from the out side, didnt have to sand or even clear coat it, maybe over the winter i will give it a coat of clear and see what happens
