Some winter progress...

Well lately I've been getting a lot of "where did you go?" "whats new with the car?" PMs and emails. I'm still around, just haven't been posting much lately.

Thought i'd give an update to those who were wondering and just share that my car has become a pretty big project. Its been off the road and torn apart since august. Started out to "just be" a motor swap...but then i decided while the motors out....(you can figure out the rest).

Haven't been doing that much work on it lately just gathering parts...now assembling the motor. But anyway here are some current shots of what everything looks like. Just got the brakes yesterday, hopefully those will be on the car soon.

Pretty much changing out the whole drivetrain, new brakes, new wheels, new hood.

That is one wild project. What are the specs on that motor? Looks like a Vic Jr. intake and possibly some Vic Jr. heads. I love those caster plates. Where did you get those, how much they run you? Great adj.?

Can't wait to see the final pics!

Looks really good Steve! I really love the look of a shaved firewall, and can't wait to do mine. You are gonna love the new brakes. Upgrading brakes was one of the best moves I have made for overall driver fun. You can go SOOO much deeper into a corner now. Keep the progress pics coming!

Its a 355 solid roller, all forged, 13:1 compression, .577/.602 lift 242/262 duration cam, edelbrock performer rpm heads, super vic manifold, and ill be running a holley 750dp. Lot of compression...but it should put down over 400hp to the wheels N/A. Haven't decided if i'm going to spray it just yet.

The camber/caster plates are made by J&M they are the new design, look a lot better then the older ones. Ran me somewhere around $200 shipped they have them for sale new on ebay. I like the fit/finish so far, haven't had the car on the road to adjust them yet.

Most likely a cervini's 3" cowl or looking at the champion fiberglass 3" cowls.

They are Cadillac CTS-V Calipers...4 piston Brembos with a stock 13.5" C6 Z51 corvette rotors. Thanks to Ed Miller for setting me up with this kit .

I have just about finished assembling the motor, picked up the carb the other day. Its about ready to go into the car. Haven't got the brakes/a-arms/springs in the car yet as its just too damn cold and they are callin for some nasty weather tonight/tomorrow. I am contemplating painting the calipers red at this point so people will actually notice them, and i like the way they look thats how my car was before. With the spacers they tuck pretty far back into the wheel. I want people to see them

Just working out the march pulley setup then i will have pics up of the complete motor hopefully by sunday.

Thanks for the compliments everyone it means a lot.

Re: Some winter progress...

Yup i gotta run a cowl. I just hope i can make it fit with the 3" as i refuse to run any taller.

Stripes will come...not sure how soon.

The hood will come gel coated white so i hope its a close match to the color of my car. So it'll be a little ghetto looking with stripes on the back half of the car but not on the front lol.

Looks like you're doing everything that I want to do to my car, but I want a T56 and EFI.

Ya...but the car doesn't get driven everyday only when its nice outside and its off the road for the cold months. No need for EFI. Oh and mpg...HAH whos calculating it.

Ive always liked the looks of cowl hoods, but they are just too common thats my only "dislike" about them.

Its been over a year and half since this was my daily and ya the valve cover studs make it very easy to pull off the covers for adjustments.

I thought thats what the extension was for in my socket set!

That project is really coming along nicely, and the engine looks great. What valve covers are you running on there?

who's water pump are you using there? i'm debating putting an aluminum mechanical water pump with an electric drive (so's i can put a pulley/belt on when i'm street driving) or running an electric water pump all together (but then i gotta figure out an alternate mounting point for the alt.)

Thanks, they are just some chrome tall covers for perimeter bolt pattern. Not sure who makes them.

As far as i know its a Summit brand high flow water pump, it is aluminum.

Alum mechanical water pump with an electric drive? Never heard of those but it sounds pretty sweet. I was contemplating running an electric water pump but i got a good deal on this pulley setup so i went with it.

Just got done placing the new Brembo Decals on the freshly painted red calipers:

you never seen those electric waterpump drive kits that you can get through mr. gasket or anything? here's what i'm talking about:
it's a universal kit and can be positioned pretty much anyway you want it to be.

Re: Some winter progress...

Its not welded at all. Riveted, then used autobody caulk that really thick **** they put in all the seams of our cars. I just smoothed the seams well it actually does look welded and painted over. The plate is actually "removable" if i ever become sane again and decide i want heat or a/c.

That big chunk on the driver side is factory caulk...you can see how nice of a job they did!

Re: Some winter progress...

Not trying to bash you at all, but how come you're selling the Snypers for Z06 wheels when from the pictures it looks like the one wheel has a bent lip and some curb rash? Your Snypers were beautiful

Re: Some winter progress...

Few reasons:

I have always loved c5 z06 rims its what i originally wanted but i just couldn't afford them at the time. I got these for a STEAL of a price. With 2 good tires on the rears.

I wanted wider tires on the front and rear. These are 17x9.5" front 18x10.5" rear as opposed to the 17x9 all around snypers.

That is a terrible pic of the wheel, it hasn't been cleaned/polished and yes that is a small bent lip only noticeable in that pic. They do have some minor curb rash but its not much.

The snypers actually clear these big *** brakes so i may hold onto them and mount them when i want to change the look

Last reason the snypers were not clearcoated, i had to constantly keep them polished and it was just a lot of work.

Re: Some winter progress...

Oh well those look a lot better now. How much did the Snypers cost brand new anyways?

Someday I'll have me a set of chrome TTII's on my car. Someday

Re: Some winter progress...

Not sure if you can even get them new anymore. I think ROH was going out of business or something like that? Pretty sure snypers are discontinued. I paid $600 for the snypers with no tires, with peeling clearcoat. I paid $400 or $425 for the z06s, with 2 good rear tires(tires alone for 295/35/18s are like $150-200). So i thought i got a good deal.

Your car looks better with ZR1s compared to tt2s i think. More modern of a look.
