Havent visited these forums as frequently as I used to (due to new car, new problems, the works), and cant see how when there's work like this going on HERE.

Whoa I can see the stressing job of untangling those wiring all over his hood. It goes in all directions. I probably quit the project in the middle of this process.

 

All i really need now is to get a new starter!
I used a starter off a lt1 car it pooped out so im going to buy a new one with a warranty. the other things that i need to do is some wiring and making sure both fans work im running my own dual fan setup which all post later in this thread. its really just down to tuning the carb and timing and some other small ods and ends like fabing up a radiator hose out of stainless and the top radiator peace i also need to find a over flow and whipper bottle and im ditching the valve covers that are currently on there. i also have to bolt in the booster and all that kinds of stuff the engine bay hasn't been washed since after the buffing so it maybe a tad dirty but all leave you with some pics anyway for your enjoyment. . .

 

Another Now that's way different already. For how long did it took you to come up with this man?

That is a beautiful engine compartment. I spent a winter on mine and its nowhere near as nice. Great work.

In all honesty i just wanted a matching bay to the exterior. I never liked half-assing things so once i started to pull the wires and gearbox there was no turning back
i decided to take my time and really make it look great.
iv had this idea in on my mind for a long time. its a close color to that of the 02 birds and Camaros but its not metallic

 

Wow your is very nice neat and clean! i like how you painted the strut plates, booster a/c delete box blans together very well with the rest of the bay - did you paint your overflow?

 

Thanks. I still have to clean up that wiring mess in the corner of the firewall on the drivers side. I put a new overflow bottle in but the white just didn't look good with everything else so i sprayed it with some trim black. I still have to get a new washer bottle which will also be black.

 

That bay looks amazing! everything looks so clean i want mine to look like that!

I would say go with the first ones since you obviously like things smoothed out, I think the welds on the other ones would prob. bug you and end up going with the first choice anyway. I do think the welded ones look bad @$$ but for the look you are going for I'd stick with the smoothed look.

 

 

yea there nice iv been kinda leaning towards the middle ones i posted if i don't like the look of the beads on the covers i can grind them down so i dunno i might just buy both then return the one im not using

 

The top ones look like the ones I bought, which are IIRC 1/4" - 1/2" taller, allowing for more room for bigger cams and such...ya know.

I also bought FelPro cork valve cover gaskets, which allow for another 1/4" of clearance...so all in all Ill be ready for a ncie big cam setup.

P.S. I have R&M's wire loom on top along with K&N breather and PVC...cant wait to get back into my camaro...

 

yeah personaly for me I like the 2nd ones, but I dont like the center bolt hold downs, I like them on the side.

 

I'd say the top ones would look the best. They would compliment your headers as well as your polished accessory mounts.

But they all look sweet!

 

There is no smiley for jaw to the floor! Do you just have the bare bones on there to get it that clean?

 

If the top valve covers are the tall ones that is what I have on my 87 bird, I like them alot nice and strong no leaks at all. I have also recieved a number of compliments about them.

i can visualizes what the front would look like on the other ones... so i think im going to end up with 2 different sets and once i get them all try them both out and take some pics then decide on what whats are staying with the engine

 

Heres my fan setup i talked about earlier in my posts. i
came up with dimensions so i could adapt it on a stock aluminum radiator i had a buddy of my brake a 16ga sheet for me. . . after that i started to look for a set of fans i went with some dual 12" fans that only draw 6 Amps and move 1600 CFM so basically combing both equals 3200 CFM thats a lot of air after i got my fans i had to mock up where i wanted them and where they could go i had to move one up so it wouldn't interfere with the gearbox i planed on off setting them anyways then i layed down some circles and have a close family friend plasma cut some really perfect round holes - then i used a nut surt
so i could bolt the fans to the plate and take them off when ever i wanted too heres some pics - this fan setup is extremely thin and light weight it weighs less then a single 3rdgen fan alone!







i wet sanded it and then hand polished it i will have to go back over it maybe one more time till im satisfied with it









i will post a link to compare all stock 3rdgen and 4thgen eclectic fan setups Vs my own later

They look like they could be flex-a-lite series fans...which has a thirdgen drop in radiator system for $900, but isnt exactly what he has.

 

will someone pull the plug on this thread. its makes me ill looking at it. i keep drooling all over my clothes and the wife is getting mad. she thinks i would be better looking at ****, at least she would get someting out of that.
you are a perfectionist as are some of those that are posting here too.

I had to cut the sides off because the tabs on the raider sit a bit higher then the top of the radiator support so all hopefully all i need to do is box the sides in on both ends of the peace . . .

 

dont u want as much airflow thru the radiator as possible? why did u block the areas surrounding the fans off?

 

I love the clean, sanitized look of your engine bay and you obviously have an eye for detail, but for god's sake, can you perhaps check out your local community college and take some courses in English 101 or at least basic SPELLING? We Camaro owners have enough stereotypes to deal with...

 

Having fans with out a shroud is very inefficient your not reaping the full benefit of the fans. would your toilet plunger work well with huge holes in it?

Looks badass FueledSoul, I love the fan setup. It's nice to see others out there not just buying stuff and throwing it in their car and calling it a "mod". Seeing someone actually make something for a purpose is sick.

 

 

Actually I don't see a problem with his spelling or grammar at all in this thread. Maybe in a few places but at least he uses punctuation in his sentences, instead of a full run on. Don't bash him, At least we could read his stuff, I mean who cares what people think about his grammar on a forum.

Thats what i'm sort of in the process of doing to mine. but what are your plans for your car i see you sealed up the big hole for the a/c and heater core. You don't plan to run heat and a/c? or did you have another set-up?

 

Sweet! Plans for the car in terms of driving or just the HAVC? Well i don't plan on running any heat or A/C hences the smooth firewall. I took out everything related. i do plan on fabricating some type of fan with a heated element to at least have some type of defrost and some form of heat even if it will be minimum. . . but im not really to that point yet

 

well i finally bought and received my valve covers, im going to put them on the engine tonight take some pics but for now here you go....
