Re: New paint with Iroc badging
NICE - VERY NICE! I don't recall a hood like that before; looks sharp.
Did you change out the front? I thought 89s had CAMARO not a bow tie.

Re: New paint with Iroc badging
I want to know about that red, too. EXACTLY the color I'm looking for. Is that the same Rally Red that GM used back in the day on Vette's? Did you paint your jambs and underhood/engine bay, too?

Re: New paint with Iroc badging
The red is Rally Red with a touch of black added to darken it up some .It also has ppg`s red pearl additive in it .The black also has the red pearl in it.I had a friend Mike (pro-painter)mix and shoot paint cards until we had what I was looking for. The way I found the right base color to start with was to go down Dealership alley and look at about a million cars on all the lots . That's how Mike told me to do it. That way all I had to do was ask for the paint codes. Its a one time shot at getting the right color .Base coat/clear coat with the best PPG has to offer.1,500.00 for Mike and about 1,500.00 + in materials.(I HELPED) That's not counting all the weatherstripping that also had to be replaced. And yes the jams and under the hood were painted.Heres some photos.

Re: New paint with Iroc badging
Probably just the badges, notice the rs spoiler, non-iroc tail lights etc. Still looks great tho, that color is bad ***, I'd like it more with iroc tail lights, wheels, and iroc decals on the door... not sure what a gunner 1 is..
Re: New paint with Iroc badging
Gunner 1 is very.......... IMO. You have a nice car with Home Depot looking stencil. Also, the 20.00 seat covers. If its worth doing, do it right. For under 200 you can pick up leather seats on ebay, or visit pick and pull. For the rear lights, pick up the plastic shades that snap over lights, forget what they are called. Then repost pics.

My jaw hit the floor when I saw those pics.
Kudos to you. I plan on doing this same paint setup, except black base with res stripes

Re: New paint with Iroc badging
The only reason i ask is because someone across the street from me has the exact same tail lights and spoiler, which ive never seen before, and he also has IROC badges. I thought it was just a clone, but after seeing this I had to second guess myself. Coincidence maybe?

Re: New paint with Iroc badging
As far as I know the 1989 base IROC could come with a TBI,305,700R4 auto. And that's what it has in it.. Also with the upgrades I have installed and upgrades to come it surpasses the stock IROC base I have mentioned. Thus the IROC badging. Yes, and I will admit it was a RS when I saved it from going to the junk yard. There are some that don't agree with badging a RS as a IROC, but I just could not do it after all the work. Its my car and I will never sell it.And even if I did I would be sure to mention the facts. Also when I bought the car($500.00) it had miscellaneous mixed parts such as a Sport Coup nose piece and mismatched color fender panels and a gutted steering column, no door skins or head panel and many spiders with allot of webs .Dead fuel pump and such.We could not even get it to run for even a minute without dumping fuel into the TBI and jumping the starter .It has turned into one of the best/reliable running cars I have ever owned.

BTW, are those American racing rims or centerlines? If they are AR, I have been looking at that exact same set at a shop down the street for awhile now...
EDIT: Nevermind, just looked at the sig.
Very nice car. Now keep it that way

I love the wheels but not everyone likes them( on this site). Most go for stock and the Corvette wheels. I like to be different and I get allot of compliments on them from around town. There aluminum ,painted, clear coated American Racing wheels and there's very little maintenance. Soap and water and they pop!.
