New Iroc Owner Here

I took the plunge and bought a 1989 Iroc 350 locally for 3,000 bucks with 74,000 miles. It is white with a red interior, and seems to be a pretty good car, although the suspension seems a little squirrelly sometimes. Oh well, I am happy with it, and can't wait for spring to come so that I can start working on it.

I'm glad I found this website, lots of good information here.

Nice find for such a good price my friend. Looks to be a real good car and for some reason white does look nice on Irocs its right up there with Maroon for me.

Im just glad its not red..or black. I see way to many red or black camaros.

That's why I like my Silver/Gray. First because its not white or black, second because its so neutral of a color, cops don't even see it. Both my cars are Silver.

I don't know if it's a sign of our economy, but you guys are scoring some good deals. Welcome to TGO and have fun with your new toy.

Re: New Iroc Owner Here

I think alot of it is the kelly blue book and nada--they have third gens valued really low (unreasonable). Could also be the economy or the time of year.
Great time to buy a boat or RV too (alot are selling for 50% of what they sold for just a few years ago).

Re: New Iroc Owner Here

I was glad to find this car. It originally belonged to a guy who had a camaro from each generation, but passed away and his widow sold his cars. The next owner didn't drive it much and just wanted some cash I guess. It seems like there are some good deals out there for whatever reason if you are patient.

My general plan is to make the car fun, fast(er) and reliable. The front suspension needs rebuilt, then I will paint it and start on the interior. By the time that is finished, it should be getting colder and I can start on the engine, transmission and gears.

This is a project I hope my seven year old son and I can work on together. Up to now, his primary interest has been in cartoons and weird kid shows, but he walked in one day while I was watching a rerun of "pimp my ride" and caught the car bug. I hope our project is more "chop, cut, rebuild" than "pimp", but as long as its fun, who cares.

Nice car, welcome to TGO. Out of curiosity, why repaint? It looks like the paint is in pretty good gondition in the pictures.

The pictures are a little deceiving. It has been repainted once and it looks a little sloppy, also I would like to replace the hood. The paint does look older up close and the clear coat is not good in some places.
