well i was able to do a little here and a little there the past couple days. got the gauges all hooked up. i love them. pretty easy straight forward wiring. all i have to do know is program the tach and fuel gauge. found a crack in my distributor so i'll be picking up a new one this friday. i'll post some video once i finish it all and drive. anxious to see how the GPS Speedometer works.
Not much has changed...probably laying down some new paint in the next year....it's showing some defects and abuse. I'm also acquiring a 6.0 ls motor for a project. Might put a turbo to it and aim for 700hp. Only time and money will tell.
Well, I've moved on from the Marine Corps and now reside in Wichita, KS. Car needs a repaint as it sat outside one winter in Michigan and some storms damaged the paint. Good thing is I'll be going a shade darker red, putting in some coil over springs on all four corners, upgrade the front brakes and getting larger diameter tires. Also have plans to put it back to fuel injection using Fast EZ efi. Stay tuned!
Just put an order in for Bigbrakeupgrade.com Gen V SS Camaro front brake set up.... also putting an order in for FAST EFI kit to bring the car back to fuel injection and ditch the Holley.
Brakes come tomorrow....and then I've finalized the fuel injection I'll be throwing back on....Holley Sniper set up. Will look to put coil overs on all four corners and get the car repainted. Plan is to drive the crap out of it!!
Ordered up some QA1 coil overs and upper strut mounts from Hawks the other day. Hoping they get them shipped soon. My struts were shot and it's now holding me up front putting on the front brakes. I'll start pulling apart trim pieces here soon and start prepping the body to repaint in the spring. Also, I will be ordering the Holley Sniper kit in the next week or so...stay tuned.
Finally got the QA1 Front coil overs installed and the brakes installed. I have the rear lower control drop bracket to install then will be working on cleaning up the engine bay.
Well, the Holley Sniper EFI and HYPERSPARK distributor showed up today. I plan on running this with my existing MSD 6AL ignition. I have a couple days off coming so I'll start then.
I managed to strip my front ground effects to get ready for a repair and also prepped my drop down brackets on the rear to weld up. I will look to weld it tomorrow and also dropping the tank to put in High flow fuel pump.
Quote: Yea, I've had to car too long now to get rid of....Bought in 1997. I've more plans and pics to come.
I bought my 89 in 98, so I feel your pain. That being said, I sold it in October of 19, and it was the best "car" decision I've made. -at least for me. It started to feel like a chore. Like I was locked into certain choices based on other choices. Colors, wheels, go fast parts. Wanted to do new things. -but, I'm glad you're keeping yours! ...I've enjoyed following your progress and will continue to do so!
Okay, so a little more progress. Finish the welding on the lower control arm brackets, replaced the fuel pump with a high flow one. My 11 year old exhaust had a good amount of surface rust so I pulled it out and sanded down the whole header back pipes. I then coated them with VHT header primer (2000 Degree) and then shot it with VHT black engine enamel. It came out better than expected. Only time will tell how it holds up when the engine is running.
Got the Sniper installed but ran into a problem where the fuel pump all of a sudden quit working. I will TS tomorrow. I also will be getting some new wire routers and valve cover/intake. Making a switch to black. Enjoy the pics for now.
I also had stripped the front ground effects and repaired some cracks using JB Weld Plastic filler. It took 2 days to completely harden and then I sanded it. Need to prime it and see how straight or more work it'll need.
So, I got a few additional items. Starting to look like I've always wanted. Later in the year I'll look to pull it all out and smooth it out. Paint it body color.
Well, took the car for a .5 mile drive just to do a shake down. Ended up kicking the alternator/water pump belt plus my overflow take hose came out. I'll have to do something about the overflow tank and I was thinking of going low cost serpentine belt system. Put her back in the newly finished garage. More to come!
Wow how things have turned. Currently going through a divorce and the soon to be ex is trying to keep my car from me. Even though I bought it before our marriage and have a temporary order that awarded it to me. She is refusing to give it up and I'm having to take her to court over this specifically. Once I get it back, I'm going to try and daily drive it. Still need to replace steering box, fix wipers, heater and install real coil overs. I'm going to save up for the Sniper 2 also as I imagine I'll run into some problems with the Sniper 1 set up as it's only a matter of time it seems. Could use some good lucks and prayers that I can keep my car.
Well, I was able to get my car back. Started yesterday with replacing some parts that have worn out or where broken. Had to replace the header panel that house the headlights because of a missing stud to mount the fender. Also started doing some body work and hope to have the whole car in primer over the next couple weekends. I filled in the fender power antenna hole and am repairing ground effects. The interior has gotten trashed from the sun over the past 5 years so I'll be replacing a lot there. I need to pull my LT headers and fix some dents from bottoming out. So basically, I have a lot of things that need addressed to get it back into great shape. Totally see a lot happening in the next few months. Pics to come.
Glad you got to keep the car. Broads. I am confident she will look even better this time around. BTW, thank you for your service and surviving. I have an idea what that was like. Thank You again.
