Re: start-to-finish
I just got the same Z06 wheels for my 85. I love the way they look on the 3rd gen. Are spacers necessary? I know I am a camaro newb. I just got the car two weeks ago. I love the pics!

the 10 spokes were only on the 01-02 ss. i do run 2" spacers. no updates yet....i planned on fixing some things with taxes but kids needed dental work. there went all my spending money. i hope to manage to get it fix sometime this summer before i deploy again, or it'll have to wait til i get back April 2012. played with the idea of putting in a LS based motor but that too will be down the road. i need to put some miles on the 406.

Re: start-to-finish
Thanks for clarifying. I think the wheels look great on there. I just put my z06 wheels on the car and have the entire interior tore out to fix some rusted spots and re-paint the interior with the minimum cost possible. I will post some pics soon.

Re: start-to-finish
Your car is looking sweet..... Question, you said you soaked your interior pieces in armor all??? Could you clarify what you mean....
Did you just get a big tub and 10gallons of armor all and throw them in there for a few days????? my interior pieces are black and I want them to come out half as clean as yours did, well hopefully as clean anyways.
Be careful over there in the sand box I spent most of my six years over there and well yea good times and bad but wouldn't change anything about what I learned about life....
Great car love the hood pin striping

i just sprayed them down ALOT and let it soak in over night. the next day there were no puddles, the plastic had soaked it all up...they still look awesome today...i did that almost 2 yrs ago.

Re: start-to-finish
yea, the 18" torque thrusts in the above post/pic. i broke the motor down and had two bad roller lifters. the needles in the bearing came apart. when that happened it wiped out my cam also. so complete tear down of motor, new head gaskets, new cam, new lifters, hone cylinders. the bearings were good and no other damage. got lucky. my father in law will start putting back together monday/tuesday and i'll bring the car to him on next friday. hopefully mid week after that it'll be done.
thanks to all who posted nice comments, appreciated. sucks i'll only have like 4-5 weeks to drive her before she stays in the garage for 7 months while i head back to afghan.

Re: start-to-finish
sorry i forgot you already posted pics of the rims, good luck back in afghanistan thanks for keeping us safe and being a thirdgenner. i think the ss 10 spokes would be pretty cool if the had a deep dish version in my opinion. but the tt's are a nice step up

No man left behind, stay strong over in the hot box, enjoy the MRE's yummy. Your car is a work of art brother, cannot wait to see the post start up again when you get back state side.

Re: start-to-finish
ok, so it's taken a little longer to get the motor back in....but it did start at the beginning of the week, it needs only little wiring tasks finished up. I ended up having to havethe motor bored out .040 over, so new slugs were put in. So it's 409/410 now. I was hoping to be driving it by now, but the father in law has been busy at work. I am so itching to drive it. oh, and yes the rearend needs lowered. i'll be cutting 1/2 a coil out of the rear.

well the engine is in and running. I am currently on vacation in Mi and will get new tags so i can drive her when i get back. My father-in-law said the front end is really low...and that the rear should come down some. So I'll be cutting 1/2 a coil as soon as i get back. no pics yet. I will have some in 10 days.

Re: start-to-finish
Good stuff, what are you estimating 1/4 wise? I know I was pretty stoked when I was on leave, I finished putting my new engine in... I put around 1k miles on it. I was planning on taking it to the track, but it was raining every Wednesday and Sunday. I was pretty upset. Then my leave ended and I had to come back to Japan..
My transmission started slipping right before I left too... So now I am going to put in a T56 when I am home in March hopefully.
Regardless, you have a sweet car. Keep working on the 406, don't worry about an Ls1. It's a beautiful car you got there.

Re: start-to-finish
Front end is a little low, or rear end is too high for my taste. But I prefer a stock ride height, sleeper look. Love the car though, and gotta love deployments for project money. I'm thinking about trying to get on a 4th trip downrange.
