R.I.P 2001 SS

I figured I'd post this over here too:
I was on hwy 73 a few weeks ago by the port arthur library, cruise set at 70mph when the car just started swerving and I saw my rear wheel pass me, I went sideways throught the grass center divider at 60-70mph then the car shot straight across the highway and t-boned a goose neck traior then did another 360 on the highway and finally came to a stop in the outside lane, Im ok but the car is gone, frame is twisted to ****.

If anyone is intrested Im selling the motor, fully built trans circle d stall, computer and wiring harness for $4500.

The plan is to replace it with something nicer, Ive been throwing around quite a few cars: c5 z06, c6, trailblazer ss, challenger rt, 2010 camaro ss, or maybe even a srt 10 ram or srt8 300, but an reallying wanting the c6

WOW, how did the studs sheer off. I never saw that happen unless the wheel wasn't bolted on tight enough. Well at least your alive. It's great to have you here.

Man, that sucks... Glad to hear you're ok though. That had to be scary as hell to lose a wheel going 70mph.

Re: R.I.P 2001 SS

wow! that's terrible! I'd either swap that drivetrain into a 3rd gen or put the money I get from it towards a 5th gen... the C6 would be very tempting though. I've also toyed with the idea of putting an LS1 in a Solstice or Sky too though... that'd be a fun little car :-)

Re: R.I.P 2001 SS

The only time I have heard of that happening is when the lugs are put on hand tight and then the cars is lowered so the lugs can be torqued with out the tires wanting to rotate but the torquing of the lugs never happens due to some distraction.

Yes, I had a 77 cordova in the early 80's and the same thing happened to me.
Except it was the front tire, I watched as it passed up my car, hit a house shot straight up the side of the house about 40 feet, came down , hit the home owners car and dented the roof.

I stopped the car in the drive way of the house it hit, jacked up the car, put the wheel on using one lug from the other wheels and got it home.
F'ed up the fender when it came off.

The back wheel coming off as yours did will send the car into a spin. You are lucky you did not get killed or someone else.

Good choices. Better to have a couple cars rather than one. If one breaks down you have another to choose from. All these cars are good deals. Good luck
