project: 92 camaro
so we took the daily driver '92 camaro rs out one last time last friday before officially starting our restoration. we bought a new daily driver car so the camaro finally gets torn apart. got home at midnight on friday, and started striping the interior. spent a few hours on saturday and sunday doing as much work as we could on it. so far, carpet is gone, trim is gone, all but one interior panel is gone and the seats are out. we are going to be priming and painting the interior metal "flame red", the color it would have been from the factory on a red 92 camaro. the car is teal but we decided it would look much better as red. we are also swapping out the grey interior for the grey interior with the charcoal black accents. putting in black carpet, and painting all the light grey panels with oem black plastic paint. and an original tape deck from another '92 camaro. some cool things we are doing is we are going to put speakers in between the doors and courtesy lights in the footwells (like the iroc's had). we are still considering the possibility of wiring up some courtesy lights in the back panels (like the verts had). also, we are putting in more insulation for a quieter ride
the rims are getting pulled off and sent to detroit to be refinished and reclearcoated and red accents are getting painted on. the exterior is getting striped, new front nose, new chin, z28 grill, fog lights, new weatherstripping, new badges, all body work done, etc, after all that she's getting painted red.
we are probably going to pull the 130k lo3 in it to put a low mile 305 in, if we can find one, and a low mile 700r4 to go with it. we were going to convert this car to a 5-speed but it's just too much work.
last of all, we're overhauling the supension, nothing special just making it ride real nice and have an agressive steering response and we are chopping the springs in the back to make the car have a more even look, instead of the factory "raised rear" look. oh and brand new 245-50-16's...
what do you all think? idea's? suggestions?
Finished product...

Re: project: 92 camaro
Why not go 350? I would say they are easier to come by at the Pick N Pulls... And the teal paint still looks good. I wouldnt paint it unless the paint is messed up.
