Badass!!! A coworker is building up an 88 BMW 3.25 as a drift car, sounds like fun, I wish I had the guts to do that to my camaro, probably smack a wall or something!

your tire budget has to be insane. have you reviewed federal tires for drifting? they are dirt cheap and suppose to last longer than most street tires.

Anyway very nice set up, I would bet it would cost alot less to build your car in the US

@SLP-GTA: I use used tires, otherwise I couldn't afford that. When I pass a tire dealer I stop by and ask if they have some rubber left :-) But you are right, Iften hear that about the Federals.
I bought all the parts in the US. If I would buy it from one of the five (!) shops over here it easily could triple the price. Shipping prices are ok and I get my parts within a week. I also often order together with my master mechanic so we can share the shipping. Summit ftw!

If you find wheels you WANT, do what I did. Buy what you can & have them widened.

Two of my 9" wide ROH Snypers got widened to 11"s.

HP - don't know. In my wrecked Camaro it was good for a 13.4@108mph...

The wheels are from a manufacturer called "Fittipaldi". Seems to be some kind of sub-brand of OZ-Racing. Found them a while ago on ebay. These are BMW-spec...never saw them on another car here in Germany...so they must be some kind of rare...

I commented on your car on cardomain. That thing is ****ing killer. Damn I love that car. Props on the stance, the wheels, the dash, the manual, making it a road course car... amazing. You should take it around the nordschlieffe! I've always wanted to do that with mine but unfortunately there's an ocean in the way.

How do you run something like that over there in the land of hyper-sensitive environmentalists? I mean in most of the US yuo cant even put a carburetor on one these, much less in Germany. Is it street legal?

I bet that thing turns a lot of heads over there, and I bet that exhaust note is fairly rare up that ways too.

@Omni: No, no steering mods yet. But I think stock geometry is by far the worst you can find on a production car. I still have massive problems with understeer when it is wet. Will be changed one day to a more modern conversion..maybe we will change the whole front suspension design...

@Infernal: You're right on every point. It's really a exotic car over here...even more than the Pontiacs.
It's not street legal. With some connections and a bunch of money it maybe could be possible but with a carb setup you will always have a problem pass the smog test. Even then the cops could take the car out of traffic and cause you much trouble. It's a track only car now, only drive it on the street with a special 5-day registration which is ment for moving a car before you registrate it regularly. Next step will be a trailer.
Sometimes people freak out if they stand next to such a "noisy" car..you get used to it :-)
And yes, they are environmental crazy here but the automotive industry still plays a big role so Daimler, BMW and Audi still produce cars with over 500HP out of stock and nobody cares.

@Blaize: The steering wheel is somekind of noname wheel with a "pilot" logo. I think it is a copy of a Grant wheel because even the Grant adapters are fitting.

ive owned a sr20det powered 240sx drift car and a turbo 4agze Ae86 corolla and there fun but i think it is cool to see old school power out on the track

Love the rims, only thing I would change on that car is the ground effects color, kind of clashes, otherwise a very nice ride...

hahaha...man, that is friggin sweet! The car looks just looks so menacing! It has this no-nonsense look that just says, get the *** out of my way!

 

Very nice car. I love the stance of the car and the brake setup. So many people get caught up in making the car go fast and forget that eventually you have to stop.
