'sup - new guy here (tons of pics - 56k beware)

as of last week, it has AGAIN been resurrected.

91 z28. just got motor back in it. it sat from 03 - 08. got it out in spring of 08. did all the minor things just to get it started - a major tuneup and fluid flushing/changing. drove it around all ghettostyle through summer of 08...just seeing if it would just "bust lose" and start idleing normal, actually accelerate hard, etc. it was losing compression bad...somewhere.

fall of 08, took it to a buddy's shop (pete sr's shop...some may know him? he has a 01 or 02 ss w/ a 409 stroker running 9's). it wasn't just a valve job, piston rings were shot to all hell (i actually have them in garage...should take some pics). he determined that for me quick. even told me it which 2 were REALLY bad. gave it back to me so i can get it back into his shop in spring to get the motor out. also, to give me time to decide on a new motor or getting mine rebuilt/bored. threw tires on during that time too. took it back to his shop late spring 09...it sat...we finally got motor out by like...august...threw it in the back of my truck, and took it to a place called speed service. cool guys with a badass old-school shop and mentality. with a new water pump, wires, tons of fluids, the motor is now in. got it back last week. just got her all cleaned up, and here she is as of earlier this evening.

Re: 'sup - new guy here (tons of pics - 56k beware)

i'm so mad i got these new tires for it. first thing i did was get new ones for the front (standard cheapo all-terrains). and just a few months ago bought some nice summer tires for the back. but now i want new wheels and these tires may not fit. lol.

what are your guy's feelings on racing stripes? i love them on these cars if they're done right. i'm thinking a matte black would be cool. or...would that be stupid?

Very nice car. I am jelous now. I live a little south of Milwaukee and we got snow on the ground here. I see bare ground by you. I wish the snow would end, my 92 wants to come out of hybernation soooooo, bad. By the way, what kind of wheels are you looking to get? I may be interested in your current wheels. They look to be in great shape.

not original paint.

this is 3rd 'new motor' in it. my pops used to work at felpro (now federal mogul) until he passed (rest in peace...he was 49). he worked in the dyno/product testing lab there 3rd shifts.

i bought it from his boss - it mean a lot to him cause my dad did so much work on it for him, and meant a lot to me because it's my dad's final project. he had gotten it painted hard core. when i bought it he gave me like 5324834 photos of them in process. they had the motor out, door out, pretty much had the car taken all apart. haha. it had to be a 20,000 paint job it seemed...lol

You mentioned putting stripes on that bad girl!! I believe the stripes I have are the SS stripes but I could be way off. Here is a pic. I put two to give you a better idea. I really like these stripes, they are not to far apart and not to close for my likings. You looking at doing a manual swap for that thing?

i saw a picture of a maroon one online with black stripes, but each stroke had a stroke on it too...t'was sexy.

as for manual swap, that'd be AWESOME. explain your experience.

Re: 'sup - new guy here (tons of pics - 56k beware)

Well, I did not do the swap yet. I am in the process of gathering parts for the t-5 swap. It is almost a gather parts and bolt on swap. There are tons of guides that can show you how to do these swaps. When I do start mine I will do a guide on it as well, or at least try one. If you do try to do the t-5, get the W-C ( World Class ). It has the upgraded parts in it so it can stand more power to it, also, with the W-C unit, get one out of a car that came with a V-8. It has a 26 spline input shaft. The V-6 T-5 I believe is a 14 spline input and is usually from my understanding not a W-C.

well, keep me up to date. that'd be an awesome thing to do. i've always wanted this thing to be stick =) i had no idea it was like a 'bolt on' type of thing for the most part. you got me excited.

Really nice car man. That thing looks really clean. Idk about the stripe idea, maybe in silver or white. That may look good, but I'm not really a fan of the red w/ black stripes.

Awesome. I myself will be getting my car out this year, been sitting since October 2006. I'm doing everything you are, all new fluids, brake, coolant, motor, trans, gear, power steering. All new sensors, fuses, relays (at least ones easily gotten to). I cant wait to get her out of the garage and on the road.

I plan to get a built T-5 from Astroperformance using their Super t-5 gear setup, should be around a $3500 trans, but all new 0 miles and built to handle 500+. Also looking into a CF driveshaft, Spohn tq arm and safety loop. At this time I will be doing a nice stage 2 clutch and aluminum flywheel with either 3.73's or 3.89's and an Eaton LSD, since I plan to drift this bad bitch. My whole setup is for reliability over performance.

I'm really excited to hear another camaro is now back on the road and enjoying being driven as well.

Well, honestly, the stripes I have on my car I think are amazing. I know alot of people do not seem to like the black stripes on a red car but I think it makes the car look mean. Atleast its not another mustang with stripes.
