Newb from TX
A buddy of mine is gonna sell me his Camaro but he's keeping his current engine/tranny. Right now I've got an 84 Chevy 3/4 ton LWB that I put a sbc 400 and Turbo 400 in so I'm going to take that engine/tranny and put in the Camaro. I'll put pics on here after I get the car. Has anyone had any luck putting that setup in a Camaro??

It'll all bolt right in, except for the tranny. You'll need to get an aftermarket crossmember for the torque arm to mount to. Like this one made by UMI: http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...vtmn7dcqpl5314

Does anyone else make them? Should I look at getting a different trans? I'm not trying to build a race car just a good daily driver.

for a daily driver, I would only consider an overdrive tranny or a 5 or 6 speed. a turbo 400 is going to give you horrible MPG.

You planning on going carb on the 400 or??? You didn't say what year the Camaro was, but if it was EFI originally, you could have trouble getting it to pass Inspection with a carb. A little easier if it was an early Q-jet carb 3rd gen & the Inspector didn't look close.

They won't check in Abilene. They opened the hood and looked, but said nothing about the intake system. They did get me for no catalytic converter, though I expected that.. Just good to finally see another person from Abilene!

Holy c*** people from Abilene. Dont go to the Shell station in the South East area they wont pass you at all. But there are some places that would overlook my trucks 2.5% window tint.

Every time I take my truck no one has every popped my hood. They check the horn, wipers, lights, etc but never check underneath the hood

I went to the the avis lube on rebecca lane. Might have just popped the hood thinking there was something cool under the 4" cowl hood. Bet they were disappointed.

Also possible they opened my hood cause it's a quicky lube place and they wanted to check my oil and air filter to try to sell me a new one.

Re: Newb from TX
Went to look at Camaro today and was very disappointed. The car wasn't worth $50 dollars so I had to pass on it. So the search continues for a nice Camaro/Trans Am/Firebird that I can work on.
