Hello all, starting a build thread.
Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
And pwdbychevy, I like that, I might have to try something similar, with some small screws or small but and bolt. Right now mines a small clip tucked into the weather stripping.
Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
Today I tucked the exhaust up best I could with the stock crossmember, made a temp air dam, and went for a ride.

Don't mind the rust lol. I will eventually be replacing this rusty radiator support with a custom Tube piece.

And here's a video. The car falls on its face in the intersection. And I don't know why.

The air dam looks almost like mine that I built but I used a different material. Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
So I took it in the street, dumped the clutch and make a one tire fire today! But my current issue is that my dip stick is snapped off flush with the block, and I don't know how to remove it. I'd like to just plug it. Anyone have any ideas?

If the flare of the dipstick is still in there then grab it with needle nose vise grips and pull it out. I not then you may want to try a wire coat hanger with one side slightly bent l-shaped and slide it in there and try to pull it out just enough to get the vise grip around it.

Hey found a cool thread over in fabrication I plan on trying to do I know your working on ur air dam to so thought it may be interesting to you as well
Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
The place I was keeping the car had a fire, and no longer has electric. That also kills any chance of me keeping the car there. Think I'm

Yup, sorry guys, she's gone. But I'll throw pics in here for progress on the car. The kid I traded for is a friend and I see him pretty regularly. The car has an ss hood now and will be getting a double pumper.
Here's the new ride

And I'll still be on here, cause this is the new project.

(just did the headlight buckets)

Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
Hey guys! Figured I'd give a little update. We installed a water temp
Gauge, an oil pressure gauge, and a fuel gauge, which I can't get to work too well. But the double pumper went on, and we deleted the stock fuel filter. Car runs super strong! I'll get a video up ASAP.
As for me, I've been working on my trans am. Just bought some
Stainless headers!

Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
If you move your battery to the truck you will want to buy another battery.... You cannot have a vented battery inside your car. It vents gasses and no good will come of that. You dont want to be breathing vapors from your acid battery..........
You will need an optima or another non vent battery. You will know you have a non vent battery when its mountable in any position.... sideways, upside down... which ever way you want. I put my battery in my spare wheel compartment since I dont need a spare wheel. A good non vent battery will cost you about $200 give or take some depending on the battery you chose. Cheap batteries are just that.. A good non vent one will be closer to $300. But that also depends on who you know too I suppose

Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
hey guys, sorry to stop updating. the car has been in good hands. its back to an edelbrock carb, 650. seems to run pretty good, just needs some tuning. all new brakes, shocks, sway bar links. i actually work with the new owner now, and we talk cars pretty often. As for the ls1, its snowballing pretty quickly. just had the tranny built, becasue i installed a 3800 converter, and it was the straw that broke the camels back. but no its a tire shredding street machine!
Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
hey guys, im the previous owner of the camaro and yes got it back. Ive got it running pretty good boggs a little on a rev and from a launch. during the launch once the bog goes away the car takes off. cant figure out the bog. checked the timing, messed with the carb n fuel pressure still no good. thinking it could be bad gas. now im thinking about doing a lt1 swap. not sure what route i wana go down
.
. Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
I could never sort the carb out either, edelbrock 650 should be fine, correct? Im wondering if the fuel delivery is an issue. The motor ran so good on my buddies truck, way back before i got it.

Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
Edelbrock does not make a 650, its probably a 1405, 600cfm, these tend to be very lean out of the box.
87 is fine and would not cause a bog, maybe a ping, but not a bog.
Read this, http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...ers_manual.pdf
And tune per these instructions.

What part number do you have?
Isee they do have a 650 now in the Thunder Series.

Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
works now thanks. also whats happening is that when the motor is running for say about 10 min n i turn it off it wont start right up as if its getting to much fuel. but the fuel pressures been adjusted alot n still no improvment.

Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
What is your fuel pressure?
As you can see from the link, there is a series that must be followed when tuning the edelbrock carbs. I would go through that complete process, as involved as it is, and see what happens then.

Following the tuning guide, and let us know if it doesn't fix the issue.

Any update on the red one man? ive made a ton of progress on my new one you should check it out lemme know what you think https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...r-86-iroc.html
Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
Your iroc build looks sweet. I like to tackle that project. Im actually gunna eventually pull the ls1 that's in my trans am, and put either a 370 or a 408, so maYbe I'll find something to stick the ls1 into.

Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
The Camaro looks like it's really starting to come together. and on another note that truck is awesome. Always loved the step sides for some reason.
Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
The step side is gone too. Miss it. Im gunna give my tahoe the same treatment.
As for the trans am, it's getting cammed shortly, all the parts are in the trunk.
The camaro will be getting a lot more attention, because the new owner is moving, and will have access to the car more regularly. Hopefully we can really get the ball rolling.

Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
tomorrow i will be taking the maro out of the garage for the first time in 2 months. goin to take out the old gas n put fresh 93 and get her running again for sundays transfer with slayerx666.
Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
Dude I love your bird and the white camaro looks awesome! Great project.
But off topic, do you any more pictures an info on that truck? I love how it looks dude!

Re: Hello all, starting a build thread.
The truck is gone, makes me sad. It was a 94 k1500, 6 inch lift, 36x14.50 tires. It was a beast. Me and a buddy made the bumper out of 1/4 inch steel, and it had a steel cowl hood. It was one of the only vehicles I've had that I was happy with and considered complete. I'm gunna build up another. Maybe the 1999 tahoe I have, or I might by something else.
I'm focused on the trans am for now, but in the summer I'll get back to truck stuff.
