New member with a new project.
Hi all, I am new to the forum and thought I would tell ya a little about me and my project. After losing my left leg in an accident in 09 I am now getting stuff together and have began building a 92 RS Camaro to return to racing. I do not wanna make this thread about my accident, I do not want to make this thread about assumptions or speculations about what caused my accident either. I hope that you guys can respect that. I have stayed away from forums since my accident because of this fact.
The car is a 92 RS. Came with a V6 and a stick, which are both gone now. We are building a 421 SBC and a Glide for the car as we speak. The car has already been gutted and sent off to the chassis shop that is doing the back half job on it. We will be installing a K-member, A-arms, and Drop Spindle struts from AJE on the front along with a Rack and Pinion steering set up.
We are building the car for a new class being held at two tracks close to me here in Texas called Texas Triple Threat Racing. It is a 5.80, 6.00, or 6.20 ( 1/8th mile ) index class that you find out what you run during the drivers meeting. I thought this class would be fast and fun to compete in. If all goes well we hope to be competitive as well.
The build is being covered by RPM Magazine and will be in 10-12 issues. The first article is coming out soon and I'll post when I have the correct month.I can not post alot of pics of the car until the article is 45 days out of print, but will be putting thumbnails on my website that would take you to the complete article 45 days after the magazine hits the news stands.
We will be making alot of changes and up grades on the car. If you have any input that could assist us in our build just chime in. Any questions about the parts we are using or in need of, just ask.
Thanks, Blake

Re: New member with a new project.
I figured I would bring this old thread back to life with pics from our build. Sorry about neglecting the thread so long.
We left the subframe connectors from when the car was minitubbed for added support.

Rear bumper supports and impact material was removed as well.
We will be adding a 1 1/4 tube to attach the rear wing struts to under the cover in the future.

The powerglide transmission consist of all BTE internals including a straight cut 1.80 planetary
1.80 straight cut planetary set up.
We went with a pro tree brake.
This modification will allows us to put a gauge on the transmission to read real time pressures.

The rear end housing is a fab 9 with 35 spline Mitchell Differential axles.
We upgraded to 5/8 studs and added a Disc Brake set up from SSBC.

Re: New member with a new project.
Reed at Work Turbo custom built the S480 turbo for us, we chose to do an upgraded race cover and twin scroll 1.32ar T-6 flange housing. We are hoping for 1,150-1,250horsepower out of the 400ci SBC.

Re: New member with a new project.
We are in the process of doing the engine mock up and hot side fabrication.
We added block adapters for the remote water pump.
We intended on flipping the 1 7/8 block hugger headers, but had clearance issues, so the exhaust routing will be from below.
I have ordered a 90 degree hose end so I can shorten the feed line for a cleaner installation.

Re: New member with a new project.
Here are some sneak peeks of what is going on as we speak. I'll update more when I'm able.
Please excuse the rack boots, I have new ones to replace them, but am waiting on welding in the area to be completed.
