Put some miles on the '83 late yesterday
Put some miles on the '83 late yesterday
I got home from work a little early yesterday so I got this one out and drove it for about an hour. Today's gas sucks! It seems like it goes bad in about 60 days. Fresh gas straightened her out. Had to let her eat getting home, as there was a big thunderstorm coming. We get those all the time in afternoon from now until late August. Anyway, it's always fun to drive one of these and although the L69/MM5 is by no means the strongest or the fastest, they do feel good going through the gears.

I will agree with you on that, must be in the blood. There are only a few things I like better than letting my 83 eat up the road.

that is one clean 83. I have to say I have never been a fan of the early front bumper cover but your car looks great

Sweet looking car. How many miles on this one? BTW, I've got all the original paperwork on my '83, and it had several dealer installed options, the headlight lenses which you have on your car being one of them. How are yours attached?
Re: Put some miles on the '83 late yesterday
I thought it had around 5,500, but last night while driving, it rolled over to 5,200. The headlight lenses are held on with little L-shaped clips. I bought a set of the GM covers when the car was new, but wasn't too hip on drilling the holes in the nose that those required. I still have them in the trunk of the car in fact with a pace car speedo I never got around to installing at the time. In hindsight, I'm glad that stuff stayed in the trunk!

Thanks Guys! I'm going to make a concentrated effort to drive them more over the summer. It's hard finding time.
I'm amazed at all of the nice cars on this board and have total respect for the people that work on theirs modifiying and restoring them.
I could spend days looking at everyone's third gens.
This is great site and I'm glad to participate!
