Well just bought me a 1988 Camaro sports coupe it has a 350 not a 100% shore on that yet though it has a a great int. I will post pictures tomorrow o and only paid 800 for it.

Looks like an RS not a SC. SC did not have the skirt package and do not think they were avail in 88. Think 87 was the last year.

Either way good deal as long as its in decent shape(structurally).

thanks Well the op said previous owner owned it for 16 years and replaced it with a stock gm 350 but I'm not shore about that because it looks on touched so hopefully I will get to check the numbers on it but Yes it was or is a 305

Yes that sure is an 88 SC-not an RS. Just from the pix it looks like the original LO3 (305), but unless you run the numbers on the block you will never know for sure. Not a bad looking car.

thank you that's what I was thinking but like u said No way of telling a lo3 from lo5 ether one is fine with me I don't need a lot of power I would get in to trouble Lol

88 was the last year of the title "Sport Coupe" and they did have gfx. Minor changes in 89 and the designation RS was added. I had a blue and grey 88 SC a few years ago.

well my bad luck has struck again window motor is bad I have to take it to get fixed don't have the tools so it's been sitting because of the rain ever other day and of course it's as all the way down lol and on Valentine's night drove it around and was leaking anti freeze but thankfully it was a easy fix radiator cap so I got somewhat lucky on that part but does need a radiator flush it's really really rusty

It would not be a 3rd gen if it did not have issues right off the bat, both of mine did and still do LOL! Did you ever run the numbers on the block to see what engine you have?

No I haven't but I know it gets really good gas mileage so doubtful it is I know that doesn't matter only way to tell is run the numbers but tell you the truth I want it to be the original 305 I love completely stock car's they in my book are worth more because well around here they are just super rare but when I bought it he throw some extra wheels and tires the ones on it where dry rotten they said it would have passed but didn't want to take any chances when it stops raining I will take pictures the weather has been crazy down here

I can't see a red '88 SC with silver GFX without remembering Chevy's Angry Poodle 454 they sold to Gale Banks. I'd do it in bright yellow, but light blue would be my third choice. I couldn't see in your pics, do you have the correct '88-SC-only rear spoiler?

When you need to put new tires on those wheels you might want to tell them to only put the wheel weights on the inside. Not only do they look terrible on the outside but they damage the out side rim of the wheel. If those are American Racing Out Law wheels or a variation of them than they are a clear coated aluminium wheel and those weights are definitely damaging it.When you clean a wheel like those you do not use a polish or buff it. Only soap and water.
From the looks of those photos the damage has already been done.

thanks they where already balanced he threw them in with the car but you got a point never thought of that before and was getting ready to clean them this week to thanks for the head's up they are made buy American racing I believe I just throw them on because original wheels needed tires bad they where dry rotted and would hold air for long but can't decide which ones I prefer

yeah they put them on but didn't put the center caps on two of them I asked them they said that's all we saw so I was like Okay got home then looked because I thought they all had them which I was right the other two where in the trunk lol doe's anyone know how to fix the back seatbelts they both are stuck won't come out or should I let whoever fixes my window fix them as well?

I'm not shore about the spoiler being my last thirdgen was a 86 it has the brake light in the spoiler if I'm not mistaken and when I do get it painted going back to original color I love it even Thu I'm not a grey fan and I saw somewhere it was like 3000 some made with that color but don't quote me on that lol

well orders some switches seatbelts shifter plate from khunter he is a tgo member great to deal with and my buddy is going to put window motor in and seatbelts in so my family will get to ride I also installed a pioneer CDs play it's great. so it's coming along nicely also flushed radiator today since it was pretty out side.

i shore will be glad when my baby gets to ride with us and very glad when the window gets fixed it's going to be a slow slow restore but at least I'm heading in the right direction :-)

just bought matince stuff like oil filter gas filter air filter and breather filter being car sat for a year it needs it cant wat to get it all done but there still is rust in radiator not as bad but its there wonder should i flush or just wait till i get money to replace water pump and radiator or will rust not hurt anything? i just dont like the idea of it being there.

well got oil changed air filter breather filter and pcv valve was going to do fuel filter but lost my wrench had one size bigger but the lines are rusted bad didn't want to strip them. Oil pan plug somebody torque the he'll out of it had to get my torque wrench to get it off some people drive me crazy but it coming along nicely

Well it's smoking doesn't make sense didn't when I bought it o well I will figure it out still haven't fixed the window motor yet

What's smoking? Is it out the pipes or off the motor? Only when you start it or all the time? Is it black, grey, or white smoke? Give us a little more information and maybe someone on here can point you in the right direction on that problem.

It's smoking out of tail pipe when I start it and take off from a stop it looks grayish oil isn't mixing with coolant it started after I put fuel cleaner in it and the window. I don't have the tools to do it trying to find someone who doe's

I know money may be tight but when you own a ThirdGen you have to start accumulating tools and keep them with you .That little compartment in the back is perfect. When you’re at a wrecking yard look for the lid and retractable privacy screen that covers it.

Well changed disturber cap and rotor botton it looked real rough in the middle of changing spark plugs and wires. I got the driver side done all the plugs showed normal wear but the last one closet to firewall it's was oily not real bad but I'm hoping it happened when I took it out. Bought a used t.b.I. Today of a 1992 looks to be in good shape from the pictures noticed I have a whole lot of vacuum lines needing repair so after spark plugs that's my next task to tackle o and I noticed oil pan is dented pretty bad so probably going tool replace down the road

I'd be real interested to see the vacuum lines of your car where they connect to the gas tank.

In your spare time, how about drop that rear axle assembly and pull the tank so I can see.

Lol Why? You having vacuum problems? I haven't checked those out yet but I know all the ones in the engine bay are bad so eventually probably will replace the ones on the gas tank

Well haven't had much time to hunt down all the lines I need wish there was a complete set of vacuum lines you could buy instead of taken one of each off then going to part store and guessing how many feet you need pita

I'm gonna have to drop the tank to know for sure. But I'm pretty sure something is going on with a vac line where it connects the tank on my 88. If I fill the tank to full, it stinks to high heaven of gas near the rear of the car until I burn off a few gallons. I suppose it could be a return line leaking, but I figure a return line leak would be a constant stink.

Could it be your filler neck leaking my wife had a 86 Honda that had a bad neck couldn't fill it up because it would leak but wouldn't on a half a tank that or vent line could be messed up?

I really don't know whether the neck might be the issue.

Honestly, for no more than what a new tank costs, I don't know why anybody paying somebody else to do the work would not just go ahead and REPLACE a 25 year-old gas tank once he undertakes the expense of dropping the tank for whatever reason.

I do know that the vac lines are 25 years old too.

Rubber parts do NOT last forever.

Well put 3 more spark plugs in that number 4 have no idea how I'm going to change it can't even see it from top or bottom bought my vacuum lines and tbi gasket so when I get more time it should be done lol then on to window motor fun part is while changing number 8 car tried to start up gas poured out all over me it has remote start most of hit a wire or something but unhooked battery cable which I should have done first.

Well it still ideals high Plus still smokes guess I know What I'm doing tax time and got window motor out but started to rain so had to stop but got window up and scratched up hand Lol would take pictures but nothing special Lol fixed back seat belt Plus heater hose had a hole in it replaced it. Can't change fuel filter rusted to bad started to strip nuts any ideas would be very helpful only thing i know is replace the lines?

Well I replace all heater hose heater control valve when valve changed oil to mobile one synthetic still smokes but it's only been one day hoping for a miracle Lol but o2 sensor o and put pre heater hose on New will take pictures this weekend thing is pretty strong to be a lo3

I have a broken pinky finger so window motor will wait but I can lift it up and down manually

Well installed a o2 sensor now it ideals better but stumbles on take off and a lights? Still smokes like a diesel saving up for a too end rebuild lt1 cam 081# heads edelbrock intake Hooker headers high flow cat and new muffler then find someone to do a chip burn o and replace fuel pump with a tpi unit then she will be right but till then I will keep everyone posted!
