restoring my tail lights:
i decided to restore my tail lights. they were faded, scratched, and yellowed grid tail lights. and the reflective area of them on the inside was peeling. i took them apart and repainted the inside of them..

i then sanded the tail lights with 800 grit sandpaper to rough them up.
and after a fill 2 hours of masking the tail light lenses, i painted the black areas, and then removed the masking, and applied 3 light coats of clearcoat, and one heavy one. i let them bake in the sun when it was 80 degrees out yesterday for 3 hours, and then hosed them off with cold water. here is what i got. i still am going to wetsand them with 1000 grit and 2000 grit and then polish them with mothers california gold wax for that amazing mirror finish. here is before i polish them:

i am also going to paint the inside of the turn signal lense red. probably today i am going to finish them off. ill post more pics of when they r done. im going for show car quality tail lights.

Re: restoring my tail lights:
camera not so good, crappy lighting, but here they are finished. putting them on the car tomorrow. they look 20 times better in person. i think ill hav to come to the meets sometime if u guys wanna see it in person. here it is. note the similarity in color. so close its hard to tell the difference.

it will look so much better in natural light( the sun) instead of bar lights. ill take some pics of them on the car if its sunny out tomorrow

Re: restoring my tail lights:
i might start selling restored tail lights. i remind you. i did not paint mine in a booth. it was outdoors, so they may not be absoloutely perfect, but they will look great just like mine if not better. i want to see if anyone would be interested in these. here is the pricing:]
(camaro and trans am tails)
$200+ shipping for a set of regular refurbished taillights
$220+ shipping for refurbished ones with red turn signal taillights
$220+ shipping for refurbished tinted regular taillights
$240+ shipping for refurbished tinted, red turn signal taillights.
who would be interested for that price???

Would that price include the tail lights them selves, or would I need to send you my originals?

Re: restoring my tail lights:
if people would be interested, i will invest in a new paint gun and some nice professional paint and clearcoat and do them like that instead of rattle cans which is what i used on mine.
i will also make a small paint booth to paint them in so they are not exposed to any dust

Re: restoring my tail lights:
I just tried pulling my tai lights apart and it seems like they wanted to break, so I gave up. I polished them up with Mothers mag and aluminum polish. I've found this stuff works great on lenses.

Re: restoring my tail lights:
Those look real nice. Makes me want to do something with one of the 3 sets of taillights I have laying around. I have those same tires on my camaro. They are real slippery in the rain i think.
