off topic but picked up an awesome find this week.
1972 datsun 240z that has been parked in a garage for 33 years.
Paid $300 and its in great shape.
Dont worry though im going to finish up the camaro before i start this new project.
If anyone knows a good datsun forum please tell me!!!

Quote: Got my gf to do the lettering on the throttle body plate. She's doing the plenum right meow.
Is this "as cast" paint?
Is it the same color you used on the block?
Does anyone know what color the engine was in these cars?
I have an '89 I'm getting ready to start on and I'm a newb to TG.

You're doing a great job with this one.
Thanks

The color on all the intake parts is aluminum engine enamel. The block I painted with cast iron paint.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
Looks great man! Great Job. I am in the process of rebuilding my 90 Camaro but I am doing an LS swap with the motor. Been working on it for about 5 months and still have yet to get the paint done. This makes me realize my end result and helps me to continue to chive on!!! I will be posting my start of rebuild thread soon. Cant wait to see your finished product.

I know it won't hurt anything, but I'd still kind of complain that they haven't touched it yet and now are using it for storage.

They have been understaffed which is bs bc theyve done plenty of cars that came in way after i did. Thats what i get for putting down a $1000 deposit..

I dont want to complain since they do really good work and they gave me an awesome price. I just have to be patient I guess. Ill give them another couple weeks and if its still not started ill complain then. Right now im just trying to make them feel a little pressured by showing up and asking questions.

They finally started working on it. That's great news! Did they give you a projected completion date now that they are passed the due date of what they said.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
Ordered a chip from tpichips.com Brian has done two for my truck in the past and ive always been happy with it. Should wake the car up a little and is programmed to work with all the emission stuff i deleted.

Here's another pic of my car, its not much progress for over two months but it still makes me happy to at least see some progress.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
Went to check out the camaro today and they are getting ready to spray her with primer.
Unfortunately they left my car outside in the rain this morning and everything is soaked, and yes the hood is off, the ttops are off, and the hatch, so the whole car is damp....
I'm trying to control how mad I am about that, but hopefully they dry everything off properly.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
I feel like if i make a big deal out of the situation theyll do a terrible job the rest of the way. My gf wants me to just tow it out of there and take it somewhere else. I doubt id ever see my deposit again if i did that though. I think it will be better for me to wait untill theyre done and if there is damage to the interior ill refuse to pay the rest unless they fix it or just comp that damage out of my bill. They are suppose to primer her today so ill stop by tomorrow and if they primed it and didnt remove all the moisture out of the car first ill take the car somewhere else and demand my money back.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
I hear you there. Does make it a tough call when you don't know how shady that body shop could be. They seem to be kind of shady IMO now. Not getting anywhere with the car and throwing crap on it, then leaving it out in the rain. I wouldn't want to loose that deposit either, but I'd be likely to get the car out of there. I'm not sure what you could do to get the deposit back either if you took the car. Maybe make a big deal about how they left the car out in the rain which could and may have ruined your interior. I guess like you said wait it out. As long as they don't have the car a year from now still.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
I think my best bet now is, is to wait till they finish all the body work, primer, and reassembly and then once i feel my deposit has been used extensively and they are now into the car more than i am, i could take the car back then. Or if they just do the right thing and dry it off and keep it sheltered they could have a happy customer still.
