Some exciting news. First I'll get to the least exciting. My steering wheel was in bad shape when I initially bought the car. The wheel is the stock wheel that came with our cars and mine went from bad to worse quickly.
Tomorrow my steering wheel is being shipped off to be rewrapped. I have "special" ordered it.
black leather
Extra padding
Orange stitching
I went with orange stitching because the IROC emblem in the interior is multi colors of orange.
Now for the more exciting news. Ive made a deal with a fellow TGO member thats local to me on buying his roller. When the car is towed/purchased I'll be making a separate build thread in this forum for it. I plan on moving most of Whitejacket's interior into the roller. I'll be doing an unorthodox style engine build for it as well.
My steering wheel came in. It was wrapped by Dallas Custom Steering Wheels. I had added padding, and orange stitching.
the Z28 emblem has been on the car since the day it was made. I posted it so yall would see why I went with orange stitching
Ordered two more parts today. Also, the crossmember came in. The crossmember had been on back order for about 6 weeks or so!! Needless to say, the project is back on.

This Wednesday I meet up with a guy selling a 4th Gen roller. I have a trade for him that he wants. I now just need to see the car in person. It's a Z28 T-top car.
Are we allowed to make a build thread for 4th Gens?
Lots has happened since I last posted. The car is slowly coming along however. I bought my 16 year old son a 2000 Z28 and we're restoring it which has been lots of fun. We tore out all the interior and I've purchased full interior out of another Z28.
I also purchased a turbo for my LS1 that's been sitting on the pallet it was delivered on.
Little bit of news. I've asked if the car might be done before my bday (March 2) and he believes that it will. Either way, we're getting close and when it's done I'll be doing a series of videos and pics
Looking good and getting close. Can't imagine the $$$ that went into your beautiful build but well worth it!
So cool you listing part numbers to
Thanks a lot. Its good to see people are responding. Im using my phone so I cant see how many views this is getting. I wanted to document this by putting it here and like helping others. You could literally order or find each of these parts and roll with it. Then again, I'm going overboard on many things because it's just my
cheers nature.
I'm gonna try and get the battery relocation parts that were ordered up today in my thread.
cheers

FWIW looks like around 3900+ views thus far, so would say people are watching and appreciating it. Keep up the nice work!
Awesome car man it’s really a piece of art I’ve been wanting about the same paint job you have and was wondering how much did it cost to get it painted white?

first let me say, thank you. The car will never be finished because of its age. After this swap I'll just drive it for awhile then gear up for the next phase which will be, rear end, interior, and other minor stuff. None of which are horrible or even bad but I'm going all in on this car.
Believe it or not, I was worried the car was going to deteriorate and didn't have the budget for the paint job I wanted. I went with MAACO and I have zero regrets. I got it done years ago and it's held up very nicely. I think I paid around $3,200
Every paint place was quoting me $8,000-14,000
When the car needs paint again (years from now) I'll have it put on a rotisserie and do a complete frame off.
until then, it's kept outdoors under a tarp and gets complements every where it goes.
Well it's been awhile. I've been going crazy waiting on my IROC. With that said I've committed an unforgivable sin, I purchased a 2023 Mustang GT, 6-speed manual in mischievous purple. My very first Ford and only my 2nd non GM purchase in my entire life. The other was a Ram truck that was used for work.
7 Camaros in my life
1st Mustang
Well, Whitejacket, is home! He arrived last night shortly after 11pm. My friend and mechanic drove it 2 hrs here to drop it off. After dropping him off it was after 3am when I got home. Well worth it and considering I also waited since 1991 to see the Texas Rangers win a World Series it was quite the day for me. Huge win all around.
Needless to say, pictures and videos will be next. I'm driving it here in a bit to go do some work a few miles away from the house.
Be prepared to **** off your family, friends, and neighbors with that exhaust. I speak from experience.
Many of my car buddies love the sound of my car, but they’re a bunch of cavemen like me, so……..
I know the excitement of being able to drive a new build for the first time. I’m glad you shared it with us. The exhaust note sounds familiar, I bet you can’t stop grinning. I have a permanent smile on my face every time I drive mine. Congratulations on your amazing car, enjoy it! You’ll draw a crowd each time you take it out, first they’ll hear it, and then they’ll be stunned to see it.

. Thank you. I owe the board several videos. I've yet to post a video of my LED sequential tail lights, cold start/exhaust, and some out of vehicle spirited driving with my new GoPro. All to come soon.
Today I'm going to work on getting my IROC door decals on. They're black!
Great post and car, glad you kept it too. Which LED taillights you getting? I've digi-tails in mine.
Here they are in the day time. I may do a night time video too. You can hear the exhaust as well. Not a cold start but it's exhaust
Car still needs tinted windows, rear Z28 emblem, and the headliner is super saggy. Lots to do other than these things but those are coming next probably
I moved back to Texas. The car has been at a family memebers house/garage. I'll be moving it into my garage once I close on the house.
Im gonna work on the interior next. The headliner is falling, pieces in the interior need to be secured or tightened. I also need to have the radio put back in. I have two options there. One option is the Kenwood double din, cd/DVD radio that had been in it until it needed to be updated which i felt was a huge pain in the ***. Or put a radio in it that I bought off Ebay which came out of GM vehicles from the 80s/90s that's looks almost identical to what was originally in it
Also, I'll be looking for a new set of wheels and need recommendations on what would look good on it. 18s preferably
Welcome back to Texas!! Nice build thread. After seeing some of those mods, I am tempted to try them on our '92, but NO, it's a B4C 1LE car, and AFAIC, should remain pretty much stock.
Redo your. headliner. Do NOT replace it. ALL of the replacements are cr@p! Just my humble opinion.

Any suggestions on the plastic stuff in the rear hatch? I've seen some pics where people covered it in material to match the carpet flooring. Theres a lot of threads on this site but it's gotten very dated.

The plastic stuff in the back of our Camaro is 'presentable'. There is some sun-fading, but it's also a survivor, so I'm okay with that. So I didn't replace the panels.... or haven't yet. The back of our SVO was pretty dinged up and had stress marks from bing bent around. It was being restored with the intent on actually showing it some. I found some SEM paint that matched the color of the plastic really well. Depending on the color of the interior, you may be able to do that. I know they can come real close to matching automotive paint, perhaps there's someone who can do the same with SEM? AFAIK, the SEM paint for the SVO was a custom color, and a guy. who works on Mustangs had it mixed and sells it online. I'd bet there's someone who does that, or perhaps a standard color will match.
All I'll say is that if you go the SEM route, make certain the surface is PERFECTLY clean, or the stuff won't stick at all. I thought I had, and after the paint dried, I could peel it off in sheets. I ended up washing it with lacquer thinner, followed by a water-based oil and wax remover used to prep parts for paint. That seems to have worked. Oh, and this was on a Fox Mustang. Test the chemicals you're using on the GM body panels before going nuts on them.
After spending over a year away from the car, I finally got Whitejacket, home. It had a year's worth of dust on it while sitting in my grandmother's garage, uncovered and untouched. The battery was totally dead. A good friend of mine placed it on a trickle charger. At first it seemed to be shot, but he did something to the system and got it to take!
It was dark, and there's a video of it being cranked for the first time. Driving it to my garage felt like Christmas. I couldn't stop smiling and I may or may not have gotten it up to 160 mph shortly after getting it in the highway.
*update*
Im beginning the process of setting the car up for The Standing Mile race. Minor stuff really. New tires, new wheels, probably going forward with some new interior since my seat belts are too old.
Ill be posting more updates and pics. The goal is to get the car into the 180-189mph range for the race
