I have been looking on this site off and on for awhile and have found it very useful and informative. Decided to join, and wanted to share some pictures of my car with other members. I have a 1982 Firebird, low optioned base model. I am the second owner, it is all original, unmodified, and has 22k. Its a V-6, 3 speed auto. I found it in a barn and originally it was going to be a "beater" car for my son. It had not be drivien in 10yrs, and was covered with dust, and very dirty. After we got it, with a little TLC, Armor-all and some good quality wax, it cleaned up pretty good. The only things we replaced were the tires and battery and had the carb rebuilt. Amazingly, all the rubber and wiring was is good shape. After doing some research and finding out it was kinda uncommon and unusually preserved, I bought my son another car (a real beater) and this car has become a historical vehicle for occasional driving. I found the build sheet under the seat, its build week was 1st week of April 82. No plans to do any modifications, just gonna leave it as is, try to preserve some of the Pontiac excitement that will no longer be, as the division was axed by GM.1982 Firebird base model-011.jpg

Nice Clean car there...and props for keeping the old girl stock. Your right you don't see many like that one in an unmolested state.

Thanks for all the compliments!! She is far from perfect-has a cracked dash pad and the headliner is sagging some. The paint is pretty good considering its a 28 year old paint job. It has some spider cracks and chipping, but not bad enough yet for a repaint. I have seen a few 82 TA's around, but have yet to see a base model like mine with the same hubcaps. Anybody out there have something similar?? I would love to see pix!!

That's a great find there. I'm glad we still have people who can pick these cars up and give them much needed TLC to keep 'em running. I myself was looking to pick up a base model last year to restore and use as my daily driver, but I realized I needed a V8 under my hood and I stuck with driving my GTA daily.

An older fellow around town has a white base model 82 with rims like yours, and when I caught him at an Autozone he said it was his daily driver since day one when he bought it in 82. Under the hood was a clean-running iron duke 4-cyl.

Here's my 84 trans am when I first bought it 7 years ago.

Nice TA you have there!! Your weather out there in CA is much more friendly to the older vehicles-we have the snow, salt and cold-eats them up! LOL Glad to hear theres another 82 driving around out there. Those iron dukes are even rarer yet!! Cool he has the same hubcaps too.

There's not too many unmolested early cars still out there. Those were really plain Jane wheels and you don't see them often.
