I just heard this song the other day, it's a cover of the 1984 song, "Runaway" by Dakota. I'm pretty sure this is the song that I'm going to be blasting when I'm cruising the highway at what may or may not be illegal speeds.
Seriously though, I miss music like this. The 80's were just absolutely amazing for music. Of course, every decade had good music, but there's just something special about the 80's... montage music that just motivates the hell out of you, and "mysteriously" starts turning your right foot into lead.

Panama by Van Halen from their album "1984" is perfect to me when cruising in my '84 T/A. The album name is perfect, the song is about driving a car and Van Halen rocks.

I know its not an era correct song, but Theory of a dead man's "the b!tch came back" is a pretty good one for my car lol

I Can't Drive 55. Sammy still rocks!
I just listened to my old 80s cds on my way home from work, and a song i haven't heard in a long time is bulletboys-Smooth up in ya. Some Whitesnake still of the night, and def leppard music, early 80s Van Halen, The slower 80's i like listening to bands like toto, winger, john waite's- deal for life, david coverdale's - Last Note Of Freedom is good mellow cruising song. I listen to a variety when driving

College feat. Electric Youth, A real Hero. 80's renaissance; isn't that what alot of us are doing by resto-modding our thirdgen's?
just make sure your stereo/ speaks can handle that bass!

Yeah, that's what they said about Chuck Berry's "My Ding-a-ling". It's about sex if you ask me, then written so people will think it's a car song.Originally Posted by JeremyNYR

^Totally agree with Van Halen and Red Barchetta, good picks!
Mine would have to be "Trans Am" by Rose Hill Drive. 70's-early 90's rock seems the most "right" sound wise, but lyrically that song nails it... basically about cruising in a less than perfect Trans Am and forgetting your problems and cares because of how fun it is.
It's live... but you get the point.

I like a lot of old tunes for cruising. One of my favs to play is "Stranglehold" by Ted Nugent. Its long and has a lot of good guitar riffs in it.

Radar Love by Golden Earring
Most Third Gen specific song verse, ever! LOL!
No more speed, I'm almost there
Gotta keep cool now, gotta take care
Last car to pass, here I go
And the line of cars goes down real slow

July 1990-
Driving to Alpine Valley to see Rush in my old Firebird S/E, They had White Lion's version of Radar Love on 97.9FM in Chicago. The freakiest and coolest was when the line "Its half past 4 and I shifting gears" was spoken and I looked at the clock it said... wait for it..... 4:30!!!!! And the 700R4 was shifting 3rd to 4th!!
