Hi I am new to the forum and to being a firebird owner. I just purchased a 86 trans am with a L69 engine (according to the vin) with a 5speed standard.

Re: New to the forum

Paul, do you have any pictures you can provide of the Trans Am as well as the SPID? The SPID is located on the inside wall of the center console and contains a lot of build information.

The 1986 Trans Am with the L69 is very uncommon. We would like to see more information about yours.

If you need help posting pictures, send me an email jt@thirdgen.org

Re: New to the forum

If no SPID (it will be in your center console if it is not missing) Just post the VIN, that would explain some.

Cool find if it is...

Re: New to the forum

According to your Vin,your car came with the L69 with the required 5 speed trans and it was built in Norwood Ohio. What makes you think it's not matching no's.

Re: New to the forum

According to what I am hearing that car is a rare car to find and I am not usually that lucky to find something like that.

Re: New to the forum

This is what I can tell.
1) it is a real L69, the VIN checks out
2) It is apparently a US car (not shipped to Canada) as it is not in the compnine system which should have thrown back with a RPO listing...

Whether it has the orginal engine or not... Either way it is a neat find. Very rare car indeed as most of the 26 or so L69s went to Canada... Only 4 or something in the US

Not sure how I missed this when you arrived, but welcome aboard. I'm pretty new here as well, and have found it very easy to find information (and burn up a lot of time)!

Would love to see a picture or two.

The numbers I can read on it match the last 8 digits on the vin.
I guess I got lucky on this one.

If memory serves, the last 8 would indicate all you need to know, it shows the year ("G" 1986) the Plant ("L" Van Nuys or "N" Norwood) and the sequence number...

Also I think that is all they stamped on there, other than some engine code information...

Really cool find honestly...

Aw,that's a shame, that would have been a great piece of info. Can't wait to see some pics.
PS,You could go to PHS(Pontiac Historic Service)and buy a info package on your car,it will list the major options your car came with from the factory.
