Project Secret Squirrel
Project Secret Squirrel has begun.
Knew the turbo was blowing some oil but did not expect to find this.
So a new turbo goes on this weekend with larger injectors and a chip for now.
Hope to have the prototype 3" DP next week for mockup.
Future plans:
New stock location intercooler
Billet fuel sending unit (will be converting to E85)
3" single shot stainless exhaust
Mecham wing ( not completely sold on this one so maybe just a stock replacement)
Strut tower brace that bolts in with out drilling new holes
I am sure there will be more as we go along.

Since you could pick it up yourself, I'd go with the Mecham (save on ship). I wouldn't put old rubber on - that leaves Hawk's fiberglass which will need to be messed with to fit, but gives the stock look. Just keep the old rubber one around somewhere for posterity sake.
Good luck on Rocky (Bullwinkle is the moose)!

I look forward to seeing some progress! I love the older Turbo GM rides... I was actually trying to buy a TTA when I stumbled into my Typhoon.

Everything buttoned back up and new tires came in. Hope to be able to test the new wastegate system and turbo this week. Then need to concentrate on other projects for awhile. Should have the full down pipe for mockup soon and will work on a new intercooler soon.

Re: Project Secret Squirrel
I would expect oil leaking from the turbo to show up in the cold outlet side and intercooler. The cold inlet I think is crankcase blowby being sucked in from the PCV (hole on the right side). The leading edge of the impeller looks pretty rough! No doubt the turbo need to be overhauled/replaced.
These are oriented toward LS1, but you might consider a catch can between the valve cover and turbo...

Re: Project Secret Squirrel
If you haven't already ordered the Mecham wing, don't. Unless you're a really good and patient with body work. We ordered one two years ago and it had a long list of issues including, 1) the mounting bolts didn't line up with any of the deck lid holes (and we acquired the correct decklid for this swap) and 2) the mounting points were an inch to short to mount the wing and close the trunk. It took our body guy about 20 hours of labor to correct the issue with the wing so it could be mounted to the car.
Since you're car has the wraparound spoiler, the Mecham wing won't mount to the deck lid without drilling new holes and patching the ones from the wraparound spoiler. Or you can find a different deck lid from the base flat spoiler and use it.
