Re: CT-1986 Trans Am WS6

Quick update.

Havent posted anything in this thread in a while but I still haven't gotten the car to run.

My buddy came over today and brought his MAF sensor to check if thats what my trans am wont start. No luck. It was doing the same thing... started and idled for 1 second and immediately shuts off.

I think it could be the 9th injector / cold start giving it an issue. Gonna try cleaning the fuel rails and clean/replace injectors next.

Will keep you posted!

The EGR on a 86 TPI isn't wired up at the front of the engine, that looks to be one of solenoids for the AIR system. It looks like it fell off the brackets.

It looks kinda beat up to be honest. Do you have a picture of where it's supposed to be/look? If this is faulty, would this cause my start up and immediately die issue?

My 87 GTA sit in a field for 10 + years and I went through everything you have done to yours. Cleaned my tank, new fuel pump, new cap button and ignition control module, new fuel filter. Had good fuel pressure but would only run for a few seconds. Wound up being clogged fuel injectors.

That makes me feel really positive! What kind of injectors should I get?

Re: CT-1986 Trans Am WS6

There is a vendor on here, South Bay and imo they are the best and hands down great customer service. I think they have an eBay store as well but you can find them in the vendors section on here. Don't fall for the knock off Bosch injectors on eBay or the internet. I went down that road and highly recommend you don't do it. You won't save $$$$$$ they are junk. Get with South Bay and you won't regret it.

This is EXACTLY why I like my quadrajet and non-CCC distributor.
Keep going, you will get it to run eventually. Don't let another 3rd gen die.
