New to me formula 350 convertible
Made the deal a few weeks back, finally got it home yesterday. 89 formula 350 vert with 91/92 formula bumpers. Converted to a complete factory non a/c setup. 66k miles and a bunch of documentation with it. Wasn't looking for a car like this but it just happened to show up and had to buy it. Plan is basically build what I think a formula firehawk vert would have been if gm made one.
Keeping the current bumpers, 91/92 TA tail lights, 355 super ram, t56, swap the rollbar from my 88 vert to this one, and probably paint it Jamaica yellow since I hate the red and it's not original paint anyway. I'll keep up a build thread when real progress begins. Here it sits currently in its ugly state with roller wheels and ill aligned body panels

An 89 Formula 350 vert... RARE MACHINE.
Why oh why does it have the 91/92 stuff on it. Sacrilege.
These things are so rare that doing anything but putting it back to it's stock form makes me a very very sad panda.

Re: New to me formula 350 convertible
I bought it like that, they've been on the car 15 yrs. I know what your saying but every part that's being removed including all the original clamps and hoses are being saved. Not going to do anything that can't be easily put back to stock minus cutting the hole for the t56 shifter.

Re: New to me formula 350 convertible
That's one thing I can't even complain about (and trust me, I complain easy.)
I can also appreciate the mods are period correct. That's the same reason I bought a SuperRam (that, and Cali smog stuff.)
I'm not a "red" guy myself; what was the original color anyways?
I guess anywhere it goes is up from here, seeing as it's been trolling around with the wannabe-vette nose for 15 years now.
Note, the replica Formula wheels are done really well... if you are looking to slap some 16" cheese graters back on it. We put a set on the 88 and it made it look brand new.

Re: New to me formula 350 convertible
It's always been a red car. Just had light hits throughout the years and was repainted. For wheels I want to get 93/94 firehawk wheels because they look good and they're not something everyone has. The car hasn't been on the rd in 15 yrs and for 10 if those it was basically left to rot militiously along with the original interior getting sold out of it. It may be low mileage but it's far from a really original car

Thanks Chris,
Yes it has the aluminum slats that mount under the doors. Just off in the picture
