Coming along nicely. Looks like I’ll be seeing you driving around town this spring.
Are you going with a tan interior? You gotta get a new coolant overflow - that old yellow one sticks out like a sore thumb in that clean engine bay.

Yes I am going camel and black on the interior with tan carpets I am hoping it works out.

I 100% agree so I bought this overflow tank it should match my valve covers nicely

The fit is not perfect but I am happy with the overflow tank. I just need to open up the mounting tab hole a little and life will be good

First full warm up of the car on Saturday no major issues one small leak at the thermostat housing. Another step closer and it looked awesome outside

Re: My new 1984 TA project

She is back to home base out of the body shop. A few mechanical and interior things left to finish but she will definitely be ready for spring. I also sandblasted all the rust and nastiness off the factory spare tire stuff and gave that a nice fresh coat of paint.

Re: My new 1984 TA project

Still wrapping up little things while it is still winter. I got the T top and door seals installed and will be rebuilding the T Tops next. I had some issues with the clutch slave starting to collapse while I held down the pedal so I got new hydraulics and bench bled the system then installed in one piece. Worked great. Also the isolation relay for the headlights was sticking so I decided to replace it with this solution from the fiero forums. Finally I got a cheap head unit installed with Bluetooth and USB.

Re: My new 1984 TA project

We had a couple warm days and salt washed off the road. I finished my custom dual fan mounting bracket and decided to go for my first test drive. Minor issues but everything felt really good. I can't wait to button everything up.

Re: My new 1984 TA project

After a couple shakedown drives I've got the car running the way I would like. Still need some minor tuning but I was able to drive it about 50 miles today and get an alignment. I'm so happy with the final outcome

What did you do with the UQ7 speaker boxes when you replaced them with the 6x9's?

Re: My new 1984 TA project

Doing an experiment on the sniper linkage system. I ditched the progressive linkage where 2 throttle bodies opened until 40% and then the other 2 snapped open. I modded a Holley throttle extension arm for the cable and switched the linkage to all 4 throttle bodies opening at the same time. The extension gives me more control from leverage and all 4 gives opening at the same time give me a smoother power band. Its weird to drive the big throttle kick at the transition is gone it just revs smooth, the low speed throttle response is also great. I made the swap because I was getting an issue with low throttle some times the car felt starved for air. Had to kink the extension a bit to clear the air cleaner

No health issues that I know of but I'm glad I don't have the power lines like that 100 ft behind my house. In the winter you can see a nice Corona on some nights around the real high voltage lines

If you walk near those lines with a fluorescent tube in your hand, it will light.

Re: My new 1984 TA project

About 1500 miles in so far. Trying a new tune and got 17.3mpg on my last two fill ups. Also swapped back to factory style valve covers the Chinese fabricated ones would not stop leaking no matter how much RTV or gasket type I used. I do like the black on blue.

Get rid of the T-handle VC hold-downs.
Engine vibrations cause them to loosen up.

Re: My new 1984 TA project

Over the winter I installed The holley hyperspark 2.0 and a few other goodies. I had some issues that I thought were RFI turned out to be a loose fuse but it's running right now and I finally had a nice day for a test drive. No issues during the drive just need to drive and tune now.

Re: My new 1984 TA project

Picked up some 16-in 1988 firebird rims off of Craigslist. They had some pretty nasty silver paint so I stripped them down polished all the surfaces and repainted the insides to match the 1984 color scheme. Will be a nice upgrade that will let me run bigger brakes later
