Date , time and location aren't that important to me. I'll leave the decision up to the college guys for a date and the location up to the long distance guys.

Well, I'm in Atlanta and it's like 12 hours just to VA Beach, so you can bet that it's atleast 19 hours to Maryland. I would go, but that's just way too far for me.

MD or mid-south PA sounds good to me. I think DC is like 3-4 hours from me so how long would it take to get into mid PA? Im not sure ive never been up that way.

Yeah, at least a 2 day event, so driving won't be so bad for some. I'd plan on gettin a room too. Who wants to bunk with me?

Good name

Those 3000GT owners at 3si.org have an event called the
October Quickening. WHich is a large weekend event, and I think its an awesome name. "The quickening" Its not original (obviously 3si used it first). But it a great name for a car event.

Since its suppose to be mid atlantic...I think MD should be the best place to meet. I'm in VA and I know I'll have a nice 5 hour drive to MD...

Ok guys let me throw this idea out there for you... Last year TSGM had an event at Cecil Raceway called AIS - American Iron Shootout. I believe we had about 85 cars show up. It was a great day all in all, especially because I won, but that's besides the point. My point is AIS 2 will be held there next Spring. I forget the actual date, but it's either April or May. Last year it was the same day as SLP day, but next year it won't be. Maybe we can use that as a Focus to all hang out. I know a lot of NY/NJ boys came down and rented out almost a whole hotel. It's in Northern maryland so it meets your requirement of MD to keep it centralized. The track will be open to all american iron cars, so we can race. What do you all think???

Sounds like a plan, but is there a park near by, cause I still think a 2 day event would be good.

Someone talked to the Cecil Co. Track and they said call be in Jan to get more info. It's about 45 mins from NJ, as what I was told. I will check out to make sure there are near by parks as well, that way we could still have a 2 day event perhaps.

i like the idea of cecil co, especially since it's close to me Then again, MD, PA, and NJ are all about the same distance from me, just in different directions. I'm not even gonna throw a vote for location, cause it doesn't really matter all too much to me, but i would like it to be in the spring time...

The drive wasn't really that bad; I'm in Central NJ, most of my time was spent sitting in traffic - for no reason - on the NJ Turnpike. There was some traffic in Delaware on I95 (nothing new for me- traffic in DE), but once I hit MD on 95/695, I flew down. (Bitchin' time though and 100% worth it!)

One thing tho, I wouldn't be racing at a track, so to me, it's no big deal if we're near a racetrack or not. With my luck, I'll blow something, and I'll need to get towed 300 miles home. (I've already broken twice at the tree!) So that might be something to think about for anyone driving a long distance to come to ANY gathering! Oh yeah, the trip wound out to be 220 miles for me, by the way. So nobody complain! 'Course I'm sick like that, I love a nice long drive behind the wheel of my '86. If I could figure out how to drive my car to the Bahamas, I would.

Oh yeah, by the way, that's 220 miles ONE WAY... total, 440 miles.

You can count me in for an event at Cecil County dragway. I try to get there as much as possible anyway.

Thought i'd add. These things always work out the best if it's at a campground or something similar. Ideally you want to have a large groupl of people hanging together. Some weenies inevitably leave to stay in hotels, but everybody else just gets to get loaded and BS all night.

Yeah, I wanted to make sure there was a campground around. Get drunk does sound good, but we'll see how that goes later on.

I may be interested in something like this.. not sure right now.

I know PA would be too far. It would be like a 4 hour drive... while thats not far to some people... too me 4 hours is way to far to go hang out with a bunch of strangers...heh. MD would be do-able.

It would also have to be more than just a hangout/BBQ then go cruising. Maybe like a group deal at a dyno, or rent a dragstrip for a few hours for just us.. or even an autocross would be cool.

Yeah, I'm thinkin a track would be a good idea, definately will check into that. Believe me, when you get together there is plenty to talk about even though we may be strangers, heck I didn't even get to talk to some guys much at all when we had 25 of us there.

Mark Shields brought up a good point before our last gathering. The point was we would all have show quality cars if we were all rich. My 83 is a 6 banger SC (with bad paint and interior) and it was a great time meeting everyone and hanging out

Exactly, I mean look at my car, I've spent so much on the mechanical aspect of it, but I'm still driving around with that dent. It just takes money, some people have bills, I on the other hand don't have many bills as of yet, so I put the money towards the motor, eventually the body though.

It doesn't matter when we have it, maybe end of May? We can have it anywhere as long as I'm accessible to it, thats why I was thinking Northeast MD, or Southeast PA, cnsidering I live in Northern DE.

Exactly, I hope within a week or 2 to know for sure. Right now, I'm just gauging interest. Cause if there is goin to be a lot there, like 100 3rd gens or so, I know of several people from far away that are willing to drive, like FL and such.

Just thought of something else, maybe I should check into a police escorted caravan too or something and get it on film, that would be awesome.

Police escort, that would be awesome. I wonder how much they would want. We should invite local police officers to the event and have a BBQ at a park too. Finally, we won't have to worry about the cops pulling us over during this event.

That's what I'm wondering, unless maybe someone knows some cops near the area it will be held , might help some.

I'm going to bring my 4th Gen and ruin the whole 3rd Gen meet. HAHAHAHAHA!

No really would it be cool if a couple 4th Gens showed up? I'd really like to be a part of this. Sounds like alot of fun. And I got a 3rd Gen just it has a LONG way to go. So I guess I could push it there.

And Mike from Keyport you gotta stop driving by my store while i'm working. Makes me wanna quit early and go for a ride. Your car is nice man.

I don't see the problem in it, we had 2 at our last meet and they were cool guys. I'd like to have mainly 3rd gens, but it's still cool.

awesome, yeah get the word out, the more 3rd gens that show up or are willing to, the more people will be willing to drive further.

NYC to baltimore is only 4 hours at most from Canal Street, chinatown to 695 in maryland. So its gonna be only 3-1/2 hours for whoever was coming from NYC, provided that there is no traffic.

I'd rather not drive to MD if I can help it. It needs to be in a pretty central location to get everybody's attention. Even the GMHTP event in NJ is too far for me to go with this car. Too much stuff to go wrong on a long *** 16 hour drive, no thanks.

There are a bunch of guys in the Atlanta area and Ohio also.

PA would be a better spot for all of us driving more than 6 hours.

Hey TomP wanna cry me a river? If its in cecil I have almost a 9 hour drive and about 450 miles each way but I still plan to go. If its in central PA it will be about 7 hours. Well knock off an hour from the times. I usually dont drive the speed limit  if over 100 3rd geners show up im sure there will be plenty to discuss. Can I bring a female??

Mark you have a dent on your pass side front fender maybe? I have one there were someone hit me I havent even tried to get that fixed yet. other side of the car is cherry tho.

Hey at the "cookout" you old farts arent gonna keep the alcohol from us young guys are you? lol.

I'm from northern MD and I don't care which location (MD or PA is fine). I definetly think we should all go to the drap strip or dyno or something. Here's another thought. GM Nationals and Camaro's at Carlisle is in June in Carlisle, PA. They have a dyno ($75.00 for 3 runs) and a lot of other cars, this would be a cool center for the hangout. I would prefer to have it in may at a track, but whatever you guys decide is cool. BTW if people are gonna stay in motels, we should all get together and get rooms at the same motel.
