There are a bunch of guys in the Atlanta area and Ohio also.

PA would be a better spot for all of us driving more than 6 hours.
It's 6 hrs from my house in So MD to TN, we were thinkin of movin there yrs ago. I'll have to get someone to check into some central PA spots.

isn't northern maryland closer than PA? I'm sure if you have any problems we're all willing to help you out on your trip home. We'll check the oil and stuff before you make the voyage back to TN.

it would be nice to have like a 2-3 day event... like a car show one night, then the next day, a bbq, and at night, cruze over to the local drag spot.... and run our cars! nothin like 100+ f-bodies to shut down the rice!!... that will be worth the 4hr drive in itself...

I'm quite sure it is, since you'd have to head NE to PA rather than just E to MD.

I'd really like to have the track rented just for us. That way we don't have to put up with anyone else's crap and have a good time. And get in more runs.

The meet was pretty awesome guys! I enjoyed meeting all of you. I was the guy with Girlovfire.

I don't have a 3rd gen anymore (used to have an 84 Bird), but I still love them. I'm hoping to come down to the next meet, whenever it is.

BTW, Mark A. Sheilds, your Camaro sure does sound good Love the cam

i'm thinking a few things about this

1--- police escort doesn't cost anything, but a parade permit does here i think it is 15 bucks

2 --- the parade can end at the track or at a camp ground
camp grounds are so much better than hotels, you get to walk around to the different cars at the different sites, as long as everyone gets sites in the same area of the gounds. plus you can go all night with the food and the beer, and as long as no one gets stupid with the car keys then its no prob.

3--- car show with trophys, just alittle plaque for everyone,
best of show
best camaro 1st 2nd 3rd
best firebird 1s.....

4---youngest driver award
oldest driver
longest driven.
etc
that is just some of the ideas i have
biker

Haha, I love both cars, man. I'm not the typical Mustang driver that goes around saying "F-bodies suck!". I am a big fan of both. Hell, being at that car show made me want to buy another one! I think if I go the F-body route after I'm done with the Stang, it will probably be the LS1 route...

OK Guys ive figured it out! We can have it in Cecil County Maryland. It is in the Delaware, PA, MD, almost NJ corner. Plus there is a really nice dragstrip there. Cecil County Dragway was featured in the previous Hot Rodding. I live in cecil county so i know this. The dragstrip and hotel are right off of the I95 exit 100A. Check out the track at www.cecilcountydragway.com. Also there is a car show the first saturday of every month at the local walmart so that might be something to look into. Seriously consider this place. It's perfect!

I have a good Idea about all of this, rather than fighting on where its gonna be because everybody obviously wants it closest to their house, why not take a vote on where everybody lives. Set up a voting post for where people live, and then get a map and find out where the majority is coming from, and then find a spot closest to that. Southern New Jersey is out because many people cannot cross the river and must go all the way around it if you are coming from Maryland, unless you want to take a ferry w/ ur car (yeah right). So why not set up a pole and everybody vote for the state that you are in so we can get an idea of what states are coming and what states are not. Im from PA so any place is fine for me.

Well, I know the majority are coming from MD and NJ. Thing is I don't want it too far north, cause I have several interested in coming from FL, SC, NC. Also, a few from NY as well. So I think it's between MD and PA for the site. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Mark, if your worried about South East guys making it up then you might as well hold it in Southern MD, or VA somewhere!

I've done my share of helping put together stuff like this and sometimes its best to just pick a date and place and get everything in order, then tell everyone and hope for a good turn out!

The way this is going to work the best is if its a 2 day event type of deal. Another words, one day you have a cookout / BBQ, along with a Poker run (have someone that is in the area that the event is taking place plan out a route) or a nice scenic cruise of somesort, something that gets people moving and driving. Believe me everyone can only do so much standing around and talking, people are bound to get restless. The next day have a dyno day or track day or something like that. AND whatever you do, if you have something that costs money that you have to shell out for in advance, make sure you collect before shelling out.

As for the northern MD deal, well I've called Cecil and they are going to get back to me with details on track rentals and what all is involved. Also you might want to check out Elk Neck State Park in Cecil County (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv...arks/cecil.htm 4395 Turkey Point Rd North East, MD21901 Phone: 410-287-5333). Although if you are going to have a multi day event you may want to call up a few hotels in the region and get some group rates.

As far as rain goes, well you cant really take that into account so early in the game.....I mean this year we hardly had any rain in April. If that is what your worried about, setup a date make all your arrangements, then make a rain date or something!

Obviously this is JM2C, but definately from expierence. You are going to find out just how much of a PITA it is to set something like this up Trust me though, it can be very rewarding

Thanks for the help. Yeah , I'm goin to be pickin a date and place real soon. I just wanted to make sure the Cecil Co. track will be able to rent for a reasonable price. I've never done such a thing before.
Oh, and I plan on collecting in advance, I can't come up with like $2k to rent out a track. Hopefully, people will understand that , and will be willing to send money to me, trustingly, it's not like I'd rip them off, then I could never post on here again.

Anyways, thanks for the help once again, if anyone like you have been doin wants to assist me in anyway possible, it will be much appreciated, cause I'm at college in Frostburg.

I must of spoke a flunky a the track or something. The person told me to contact them in january when the 2002 season ends so they can setup the 2003 schedule with us in mind. I'd imagine they would like a prepayment to make us into the schedule. Oh yeah, we trust ya mark with money. I'm sure there aren't too many mark shields at frostburg. . I'll be sure to give Cecil County dragway another car on monday. Another option for an escort is to hire a escort servicee. I see them escorting big tractor trailers all the time and government stuff.

If I can find a second driver (that I trust driving my baby), then I might be able to drive from Manitoba to the meet. There're only a handful of nice thirdgens here, so I definitely want to check it out.

Guess it really just depends on what date's chosen.

Honestly not much, you could go to the inner harbor in Baltimore, probably your best bet. ESPN Zone, though not sure how the wife would like it, they got tv's in the restrooms. LOL.

If you wanna go drinking, theres fells point. If you wanna see the adult life, theres "The Block". If you want good food, theres the inner harbor and little italy. If you wanna go clubbin, theres the inner harbor with plenty of clubs to choose from with really hot girls there to dance with. Theres museums if you are interested in that stuff. If you like italian food, theres Sabatino's in little italy that featured on Food TV. Baltimore is charm city

Well, NJ is a little too far north, I got some people from FL coming.

i've checked on the Cecil Co. track and they want like $10k dollars avg. I'mm not sure if that is for the weekend or just one day, so looks like I'll have to look elsewhere.

Guess, you missed the guy sayin he would come from Canada.

So, let's get the word out, so these long haulers will be happy.
I'm goin to make some printable flyers to handout, what I've done in the past is if I see one parked put a flyer on the car.

OH I Trust you mark..........See I know where you live bwhahahaha

MD is 3 hrs north of VA beach, take the beltway around richmond to avoid the toll. How about Buds Creek MD, Maryland Intl Raceway to some, Southern MD, I think it's in Chuck CO, mayby St Mary's Co. Not really much of anuthing around, but Leonardtown isn't too far away, more central to the southern folk than the Cecil track.

just another option

and the car should be waaaaaaaay finished by then.
