I dont know about you, but if I drive the 350 or so miles, I dont want to be towed back. Its like homework, I got up early to do it all, and here I am. I have no intention of actually doing it at this hour of the morning, and got up early to not feel guilty. i will go down there, saying I wont race, and I know I will anyways no matter what i say.

Northern Maryland is much better than Southern Maryland. Im looking at a 5 hour drive, and thats semi feasible. I dont know if I'd go the extra hour and a half to southern Maryland. That is quite far.

I'm getting kind of frustrated right now, sorry I have to vent.

Seems like a lot of people still haven't emailed me with the info I need, so now I have to check who has and who hasn't , which is going to be a lot of work.

Then on top of that I copied down some emails wrong, so I have to trace my steps back to fix that.

How about Memorial Day weekend for the date? Most people would have a long weekend, you could leave on Friday and then have Saturday and Sunday to hang out, then leave on Monday. I think this would be good especially for people driving longer distances.

Yeah memorial day weekend sounds like a very bad idea. I cant stand traffic as in during the holidays it would be horrible. i say early june would be our best bet because everyone would be out of school and it wont be to terribly hot yet.

Im going wherever it is...well if my car ever gets back together anyways....

You should be able to do it in 16-17 hrs. then. I did forget to mention that I was by my-self, so I didn't have to stop for this or that. You know how women can be on a trip(bathroom, souvniers, sightseeing, bathroom, food, drinks, bathroom) You get the idea. Be carefull and be SAFE !!

We should play Ultimate!! We could have some great games, since the will definitely be enough people!! Not to mention swapping third-gen tips with each other...no telling how much knowledge there is going to be there collectively!

PS: sorry if these things have already been suggested, I haven't gotten to read all ELEVEN PAGES of this thread yet! I will though!

Yeah man, Ultimate Frisbie is badass! It's like football with a frisbie! Thats about as basic as I can make it!

You know we couldn't burn rubber or show off if we get a police escort!! Unless we get the "parade" designation and that gives us "special" authorization to burn-out. Kind of how at mardi-gras parades they can throw all kinds of crap at the people standing there, basically trashing the streets. And if its a publicized event then maybe there will be people standing along the road watching us go by like a normal parade. That would be pretty tight.

And about some of you having engine problems after you get to the meet....WTF?!?! You dont think that 100+ third gen experts couldn't get you running in 10 minutes? But if you don't want to risk it...ehh

The whole point of me keeping this car, my first ever, too, was the ability to cruise around. My upgrades and mods are aimed not simply at muscle and power, but at mpg efficiency. I so far maintain 18-24 mpg. That's why I have so many miles on it! I just don't see how your babies could bring you all the way to the meet, and then leave you stranded. She's never left me stranded yet, and I don't believe that she ever will!

And about the airstrip, we HAVE to do that!! Screw getting official times! We can go for half-mile races! Oh, man! 4+ car races! Oh, my! The possibilities are endless! Not to mention that there wont be any strip official rules so we can make up our own!

And DragRacerArt's club is a great place to have the campout and whatnot. Why not? I say GO!

AND: (no I'm not finished yet, I just finished reading all 11 pages of this beast! ) All the other guys coming up through FLorida and Georgia!! Lets caravan our way up! We can meet up at places along Interstate 75. I live in Wildwood, which means I will be joining the group right where 75 meets the turnpike. What do you guys say? Group speeding? Combine the power of our police detection abilities?

There is a local third gen club here in central florida/Ocala region. Should I invite them? Or are we getting to be too big of a group already?

Get them all out of it in Va maybe...but those MD troopers...!!!

Heck, invite everyone with a thirdgen..the more...the better I say. I was in the autoparts store this weekend (Who'd guess that) and when buying parts, the clerk said he had a 89 T/A, took me outside to see it, told him about the meet...He's ready to go now! All excited, never even been on the website before. How many others like him out there and don't have a clue this event is in the planning. Tell 'em all!!!

Get them, I look at it like this, the more the merrier.

Honestly though, I don't want to over book this, but I figure on a 30% no show rate ne ways.

Be sure they contact me though, with info I need to put them on my up date list, and that way I can see how many are coming.

I called the park today finally, the one with the fairgrounds.

The prk manager should be calling me back Mon, telling me if I can have the event there, and allow overnite camping,
only problem right now, is htey don't have shower facilities.

Maybe the people that rent hotel rooms, would lend out the showers for a few bucks maybe??? think the hotel would catch on?

you should just sit down and decide on a place & time onec & for all. your not going to please everybody, and most likely there will be other events close to/around the gathering.

Establish the date & gofrom there. give people a timeframe to plan for. It will happen.

that's what I was doing when I called the fairgrounds, but the park manager wasn't there, and will call me back Mon, I have to make reservations for this before I can set a date.

the "lent out" showers idea can work, but only if you make a schedule. Kind of like a first come first serve signup sheet. What else could ya do?

I'll work that out later, rigth now I'm thinkin, have everyone send in like $5-10 or so, and what I'll do is have some guys from MD, buy and bring the food, and I'll reimburse them.

I'll see about that later though.
