No longer driving a third gen.

Well gave away my RS and my Z28 is going into storage and I will be buying a new car.

Looking for a GTO, WS6, or a Silver/White with tan interior Camaro... has to be a T56. Know anyone let me know. Thanks everyone. I will still be around.

Wow Mike, why the sudden change?

Whatever you get, don't forget to bring it to a cruise one night. Temporarily, they will be at the Burger King on 543 at the Rt 1 bi-pass. I was there this past Friday night.

I hear possible replacement cruise venues are the Home Depot lot at Beards Hill in Aberdeen or the Target Lot in Abingdon, back where the Walmart and Regal Theater is.

Um stock i assume?

PLENTY of highly modified cars for 16k that can pretty much beat anything offered new, in a straight line of course.

w/ 16k, man i'd just spend 1k on a beater dd and the other 15k on the z. i didn't though, but i need a decent truck to tow so... anyway, you get a gas sipper to save extra $$$ while your finishing your z. and if you have 15k at your disposal........that can lead to lots of mods and lots of fun!! to each his own though!

I dont want highly modified because you loose reliablity...

Also you guys think maybe after driving 5 third gens and working on them maybe I am sick of them? Maybe I need stop buying them and move up.

I am picking up a 99 Z28 M6 on Wed.

2004 GTO's are probably the best bang for the buck you can get right now. Still under warranty and have a very nice leather interior. If you shop around, you can probably pick one up with about 20K miles for 20g or less. I was looking at 02 SS's for around 16g. I then saw GTO's go for a few thousand more, so I did that instead.

How much did you get the 99 z28 for?

o man...got any spare third gen parts lying around
o well, fourth gens are ok, id rather have the t/a ram air though. i would have gotten like a mid 90s civic or corolla for a couple grand and saved the rest. to each his own, good luck with the 99.

Well I know how ya feel. trust me. I have had a few thirds and you just get tired of constantly working on them every weekend(or every few days). My last one I had the motor/trans out 3 times in 6 months... that deffinately gets old.
I got it cause I wanted a nicer cruise car. It ended up being a real POS that was constantly getting on my nerves.
Now it is gone, and I truely doubt I will ever get another third... I might get a 4th but even that is doubtful. I am looking more and more into AWD platforms now.

I've had both fourth gens and third gens in the past Although the fourth gens are nice and faster stock they are a bitch to work on with the engine set back that far. That reason alone is enough for me to stick with third gens. The LT1 is almost impossible to tune up, LS1 is better but still far back and diff to work on.
That being said I do love the feeling of a well tuned LT1 w/ 6speed cuz they do pull like hell.

That's not a bad price for a '98 V6. Those 3.8L fourth gens are quick cars. Also, that's a great engine for reliability. They held their value better than the older v6s because of that. My brother had a '97 automatic with just an aftermarket exhaust he ran low 15s with best time of 15.1 which I thought was pretty good for a v6 auto.

its alright i dont care for the 112 speed limiter but its not like i go that fast on a regular basis but it saves gas and cheaper on insurance than a ls1 would be thats one thing that drew me to it so i could finish my 3rd gen. i do like the posi disc rear in it thats another big + that got my attention
