One of the parks outside of Flint would be nice. Maybe Davison Regional park, or another park around town that has some grills, bathrooms and sh*t to do there.

What time are you planning on holding the meet? Depending on what time I recover from partying the night before, I should be able to leave here around noon (at the earliest).
Ukraine Train.... any word on a final date for the meet?
I just remembered I'll be going to MSU (Lansing) on Sat. Oct 5 for their Science/Engineering Day and hopefully will be crashing w/ my cousin at MSU for the night...so either day, the 5th or 6th would work I guess. And if its on the 13th I'll try my best to pull my drunk *** outta bed and join ya guys

I'm interested. I live in Davison so it's just a hop skip and a jump and I'm there. Just post when and where, or better yet, if someone could e-mail me....

Damn, I didn't know that there were so many kettering students here. I have a second gen z28 that I drove freshman I term but was rebuilding the engine for freshman II and yesterday I finally got it up and running, I just might stop by and say hi.
Later....

Keep in mind some of the parks have DIRT roads, I will not drive my Formula on Dirt. Not only do I avoid the stone chips, the dust is sometimes unbearable...
I think Davison had dirt last time I was there, Flushing Park was paved.... Something to consider
Please don't get a place with dirt roads...

there are 2 parks in Flushing:
Flushing Park has Paved Roads with Stone parking, some grass, On McKinley Rd Close to Carpenter Rd. They have Some (not many) cooking thingies.
Riverview Park is in Flushing itself, and I believe it has a Paved Parking lot, no cooking thingies that I know of, there is however an A&W right there... I think that one is on Cherry, just south of Main St.
Other Possiblities:
Whaley Park
is on the End of Richfield Rd, on Franklin Ave. Easiest way to get there is to take I475, get off at the Stewart Ave/ Dort Hwy Exit, and go East, Go south on Dort Hwy, and take a right on Franklin... I think that park is All paved. the Area is ok, not the best, but with as many folks as were having we will have no problems. Not sure about the cooking thingies...
Kearsely Park
has a Pavilion, But, the parking lot is very small, not to mention there working on the park itself... No Cooking thingies either (that i am aware of). That park again is in an ok part of town, on your map, look for Keasley Park Blvd & Iowa Ave.
easiest way to get there would be to take I-475 and exit Longway, Go EAST 0n Longway, About a 1/2 mile, turn Left onto Kearsley Park Blvd, and follow it around, the Pavilion is on the left past the "S" curve"
Clio Park
Has a couple of Pavilions, a nice play area for kids, I think there is a couple of Cooking thingies, and its paved, not alot of parking, but we could make due. I think there is a few cookers.
Easiest way is to get there is to take I-75 to Exit 131 and take Vieanna Rd EAST, go into clio and turn NORTH onto Mill Street (Clio Rd) and once across the stream take a right into the park.
Mott Park
Forget it, IMO there is no Parking to speak of...
hope that helps...

Ride?
Well, my camaro is still out of commission yet and in Wisconsin, so I was wondering if I could hitch a ride with a fellow Ketting Student to where ever we decide to meet.
Thanks

Alright guys, here's the game plan. Meet at noon on sunday at Riverview Park in Flushing. The address of the A&W restaurant right at the entrance is 200 south cherry street, you can use this address to get directions. As a point of reference, there's a BP station about 500yards east of Cherry st. on main street at the corner of mckinley so when you see BP start lookin for Cherry st. Food will be bring your own, doesn't look like there are any grills. There is a pavillion and picnic tables. It's also freshly paved. If it looks like it's gonna rain Sunday morning I'll post here saying the gathering's cancelled. If anyone can't use mapquest.com or yahoo maps to get directions then post here with your starting address and i'll get you some.
if any of the kettering guys know who has a black 91-92 RS at the dorm let them know about this, I saw it today and stuck a note under the wiper to email me. If anyone else knows people with thirdgens let them know and bring your friends.
I'll see ya'll sunday.

well i was there with xmind2006(he didnt have his car, i picked him up) and slickrock55 and then a couple more guys showed up in a regal..... so there were only two thirdgens. we waited til 1 and no one else showed so we left. the black and white camaro you saw was the guy that i was supposed to meet at 11:30 at the dorm but he never showed up, guess he drove out later. oh well, it was damn cold anyway. maybe we'll try this again in the spring when it's warm
looked like a beautiful day to me.......
i was waiting on a sure fire list of who would be out there; since nothing was posted the 10 of us stayed local; we would have been upset driving 1 1/2 for nothing.
all of you are more then welcome to come out to the "other" gathering this weekend......weather permiting of course.

you mean something like superchevy........or maybe camaro superfest..........or maybe the transam nationals........or maybe a combination of everything?
well you'll need money, permits, money, security, money, insurance, and money........
but it can be done; put the good word out if any of you do decide to try this.

cfabe and i are in the firebirds club, although we havent been to any events yet since both our cars are in storage already and last spring term i was still putting my car together and never made it out and cfabe was doing work on his car. we'll both go to the events this springs though. they do auto cross, car shows, drag racing and i think rally. as far as kettering, it's the perfect place for a gearhead. cfabe and i are both on the mini baja team, we basically design and build a big 10hp off road go kart and go to competitions. there's also formula SAE where they build a motorcylce engine powered race car, they went to england over the summer for competition. there's also clean snowmobile challenge where you have to modify a snowmobile to be clean-burning yet be powerful. flint itself is kinda crappy but it's not too bad. also, only about 20% of the students are girls so that's kind of a drag. oh, and it's also not an easy school, you better be ready to work. because of short terms, each class meets four hours/week where as in a traditional college it's only three hours/week. i think just recently we were rated as one of the top 5 or 10 engineering schools in the country.

I am in the Firebirds Club as well. Let me tell you that just because you don't have your thirdgen running doesn't mean you can't come and compete. My first term I brought a POS '88 ford escort gt and even though it wasn't as fun as my Iroc could have been it still was a blast beating on that car. The Firebirds club is a car enthusiast club so if you can think of a vehicle it will most likely be there at these events. There was a pretty good turn out for the autocross last weekend ~30 cars were there that ran through the course.
