Need Advice for Local Audio/Electronics
Anyone in Chicago area have a good suggestion on where to take my daily driver to have remote start installed??
I was looking at a Viper remote start with 3-channels, two remotes, door lock/unlock, all the bells and whistles for $299 installed from a place in Downers Grove called Mobile Tel. Anyone ever used them?? I believe they have a couple other stores as well.
Please respond, my butt is freezing to my seats in the morning.

the viper alarms are nice, i have one myself in the camaro. they range for 60-700 depending on the options.
as far as a smaller local shop i would be wary. very rarely are these places the best place to go. although sometimes they are. ask them if your allowed to watch or at least be near the install. if they allow it then i wouldn't worry. new alarms nodays are pretty technical and although anyone can pretty much install them. very few can do it neatly and with no problems.

Go to Walmart and buy a Bulldog Security for ~$50. I put one in a '96 Lumina Minivan and it worked great for over 1 yr (two winters).
Heck... if you want to trade favors, I need a garage to put new wheels on. Maybe we can work out a deal. I'm only about 1 hr away.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I ended up going to Tweeter in Fox Valley and getting an Avital Avistart 3200 system. It runs the door locks and has the extended range antenna and a spare 3rd channel. It also has an anti-grind feature so you can't turn the key too far and grind the starter when it's already running. They did a clean install in 2-1/2 hours and with tax and everything it was $279.00.
AJ- thanks for the offer. If you need to use my garage sometime, just let me know. I just installed a new gas furnace in there, but the ignitor doesn't work, so I'm trying to get Home Depot to come out and fix it because I really don't want to take the thing back down off the ceiling. Give me a couple weeks and I should have heat out there.

I have good luck with the Fox Valley Tweeter store. I have been a customer for a long time & they always take care of me. I looked under the dash and everything is really clean. I forgot they did car audio/video etc. when I posted this. I always go there for my home stuff.
