Hey MIlwuakee guys
Hey Milwuakee guys,
My brakes rattle really bad. I would like to know if you guys have had this problem and fixed it.
I have put silicone on the back of the pads and they are still rattling. It is driving me insane if anyone can help please contact me. Thanks Scot

The only problems I've had with my brakes is that the previous owner(s) of my car never took the time to replace the brake pads (front and rear). Mine were all eaten apart, I was lucky i could stop at all.. But rattaling I dont know about

There's little tabs on your disc brake pads. Sometimes you need to bend them in a little so they'll fit snug on the caliper. When they are loose - It'll rattle.

thanks
Thanks confused, I have bent the tabs down...come to think of it I've done everything but weld them solid. I'm beginning to think that it is'nt my brakes, however if brakes lightly ridden they don't rattle. still

Is the rattle from the front or rear?? You didn't mention whether you have discs all around or not.
If you apply the brakes lightly and the rattling stops, it would seem to point to the pads or something. Maybe one of the thin sheet metal backing plates are loose??
Good luck!

When I got my first F-body it had a horrible rattle that i was told were the ball joints. When I went to install the ball joints I noticed the calipers were extremely loose. It seems the previous owner had done brakes but hadn't put the caliper bolt bushings in.
Well I fixed that and I was back on the road in twenty minutes instead of a few hours. Hope this helps.
