i am not trying to sell or buy anything, i am looking for a pontiac that can go fast and looks good doing it. doesn't have to modified to my extent but it should turn heads more then normal. if anyone knows of any in the great lakes area please email me as i may have a very nice oportunity for you. depending on how far from the great lakes you may have to be willing to travel a little with it.

so please keep your eyes out and let me know.

Are you talking show-quality?

I would consider my car clean, but definately not a show car. Next summer, maybe - I'm having it painted with ghost flames. Also, how quick are you talking about? My car runs 13.0's @ 107-108 MPH all day long, in street legal trim - would easily be in the 12's with slicks. It is a (bright red) '91 Firebird with a 408 SBC and factory T5 tranny. Don't have any digital pics, but I could email you some MPEG's (footage from the dragstrip).

Hey Wingnut, what kind of horsepower you got, They say the T-5 won't perform well with over 265 lbs TQ, did you rebuilt your T-5? I'm dropping my LT1 in and i want to kno how much i can mod it, My car like i said isn't all together yet so i have no pictures of the end result, which will be after winter...

My transmission is bone stock - with over 100K miles on it. I have never had the engine or car on a dyno, so I couldn't tell you what the HP/TQ numbers are. One thing is certain though, it definately puts down more than 265 ft/lbs of torque. When I dropped the engine in, this summer, I expected the T5 to break pretty quickly. I had planned on replacing it with a super T10. To my surprise, it is still going strong with 20+ 1/4 mile passes down the drag strip. Having driven it this way all summer, I've decided that I won't be able to live without overdrive. When it does finally go, I'll be replacing it with another T5. With 3.73:1 rear gears, 5th gear pulls just about as hard as 3rd & 4th - I love it!

Wow its great to know they underrated this transmission, I have 3.08 gears right now, and i wouldn't mind some 3.42s or 3.73s myself, i have been looking but i have never done a rear end swap b4, so im not so sure on how well i would do, otherwise i probably would because 3.08s won't kik it well with a powerful engine at the top end... but hey at least they r not 2.73s! oh yea and my tranny has 120k on too soo... i hope mine worx for a while till i can upgrade or rebuild...

all those who are interested in some publicity send me a decent picture and a list of your mods with all your contact info. i'm looking for whatever i can find. naturally they want things similar to my car or better but so long as it looks clean (no dents, rust, etc) in photos then it's good.

also, just to weed out some of them the car should run high 13's at it's slowest unless it's a v6 then it should be high 14's and no stock vehicles. you can have bolt ons but they should be more then a K&N and air foil.

send them away as i need them asap.

You've got mail. Not sure if they'd be interested in something as modified as mine, but I sent you a few pics anyway. Has this got something to do with PhotoGuy from an earlier post?

My dads got a 90 Formula with a zz4 and a bunch of other mods. Should run 13s with something other then the 2:73 rear and traction.

No problem. I guess they just can't handle a car like this:

well that's the thing, with publications in most cases you have to be willing to come to them.

mike your car is great without a doubt, however they are looking for cars that have more looks but can back it up..........whatever that means. everyone liked it though and there still may be a use for it!

Does it have to be a third gen? My dads got a perfect 2nd gen. Hes the first owner.

Which Third gen would you like to see?

yes it has to be a thirdgen and it has to be a pontiac.

as far as which one.....which ever one has the most mods, runs the fastest and looks the best in a picture (ie: better paint, wheels, interior, engine bay, etc)

not looking for show cars here but it has to make someone want to pick up the mag other then the owner. the only problem with cars like mikes is they want something that is a little more on the "daily driver" looking side. in otherwords something you could drive around at 1 in the morning without fear of getting pulled over.

well as time would have it there just aren't enough shows to pick them out so you look to areas like this for leads. if someone you know has a nice car let them know.

again guys i'm getting alot of bone stock cars and i need cars that are modded. something that would make you want to pick up a magazine and look at it. nothing against stock cars but everyone knows what sells.

I replied to the thread over in the appearance boards, but really wasn't thinking when I did. I am currently tranny-less. Otherwise I'd be all over this.

Theres another guy in Milwaukee that I see at shows all the time, but I don't think he's an internet guy. He's got an 87-89 Red TA. Built, sounds excellent, looks great. Anybody know who I speak of. I think his name is Phil. He'd be a good example for you.

LOL, a bit far from wisconsin? Andy got a hold of me-thanks for forwarding the info, kinda pumped about seeing my car in a mag. Heck, me and the boys gotta 12 hr drive to make next Fri. afternoon to be in Detroit by Sat. am for the shoot. Scramblin tryin to get a buddy to anty up a 3/4 -1 ton, but then it dawned on me, the guy I race with from MN. has a 34' motorhome So we're gonna head up to MN Fri. morning, switch tow vehicles and road trip to Rock City in the Rollin Racers Lodge. Just hope we dont run into any problems along the way. Tell me how lucky I am since this litte excursion is gonna cost me around $800 all said and done for fuel, food, and the fact I have to remove all my sponsor/contingency stickers to get it in the mag, then have all new ones made again for next season. Wife thinks I friggin nuts.
Do appreciate you passin the word though, good braggin rights till I die
