i believe the rule is two inches of salt for every one inch of snowfall or so it seems.

you can pick salt off the road by the bucket full.

it takes about 3 months of heavy rain to wash all the salt off the road. in conneticut i think they use cinders , the guy i bought my camaro from told me that was why the car was in such good shape. i think some other state uses sand(goodbye wheel bearings)

I put mine away for the winter, however I might have to break it out pretty soon. Looks I'll be moving east with the family in the near future, and the state I'm moving back to, does use sand instead of salt. As far as the amount of salt Illinois uses on the road, I think even McD's uses less salt on their fries!

I drove my Firebird to work today. I'll drive it 'till the snow starts to fly. My other car is a minivan, so I'm in no hurry to store the bird.

Connecticut uses sand and salt on the roads. Not much of a problem if you take the time to wash your car on dry days and spray all nooks & crannys. But the previous owner of my car stopped taking such good care of it and it was a daily driver for 18 years. Rear wheel wells are pretty bad. Mine is only a dry day car-mostly for the fact that it has too many leaks( t-top, hatch)

My camaro is in the garage finishin up a Vortec 350 swap. All should be done by the end of the month. But unfortantaly I have to store it outside along side the garage. that shouldnt be all bad just get some steel wheels and junk tires for it to sit on over the winter and all should be good. Oh and a car cover!

I drive mine until the first snowfall that they need to salt the roads. One year it didn't snow here til Dec 25th. Then the car is off the road until the first good rain storm washes the salt off the roads. Usually late March early April.
