New guy from StL, Mo - Your cams
I've been registered for a looooong time, but got errors and couldn't log on, so I gave up a year ago. I just tried again for grins and WALAH I'm here.
Here's what I got:
'92 Z/28
25th Anniversary Heritage Package
Arctic white/red stripes
All leather, fully loaded
76K Orig. miles
3K mi. on rebuilt engine
Mild mods - cam, headers, FPR, etc. etc.
My cam has 114 deg. of lobe sep.
Anybody running a cam with less than that and how does it sound? I'm looking to pull this cam and plug a new one in with a lower lobe sep, but I am not sure what would sound good and still work on the street. Its not a daily driver. I'm thinking no lower than 112. Too much lope and it runs like you know what, not enough and you have what mine sounds like (hardly noticeable).
PS - Any Missouri people on here?

What are the rest of your cam specs? I would think that other factors such as cam profile and duration would contribute more to the sound than the lobe seperation angle.

my cam has 501/501, 244/244 @.050, and 110 degree lsa. there is absolutly nothing stock sounding about this cam. very limmited street usage. lots of duration with this cam, thats where most of the sound difference comes from. look at the xtreme energy line from comp cams great for street cars and very good performance.

keep in mind knyghtmare's cam specs are ls1 and they're not directly comparable to our cam specs because they're computed with, 1.7 rocker arms (i think, not up on my ls1 knowledge)

Sounds good. 110 LSA would be way too much for street use IMHO. I've been scoping out the LT4 hotcam from GM. Anybody have experience with one of those?

keep in mind that the lt4 is a hydraulic roller cam, unless your already runnin a roller, you might have better luck with a zzx cam.
